I'm also not liking the "cut-out" solution in most cases available at this stage which is why i'm going to try out the Otterbox Lumen for now.

Apple Silicone/Clear/Beats are not an option for me personally (too sticky/lint magnet; bottom exposed; bottom exposed & not grippy enough).

The Spigen Ultra Hybrid T sounds enticing, but it is not yet available in Germany.

By the way, I have the regular Spigen Ultra Hybrid clear case for my iPhone 16 Plus. Despite using a cutout for the camera control button, Spigen did it in a way it does not look distracting and does not interfere with the function of the control button unduly.

Is there any high-quality third-party leather case with a capacitive button that works? I still haven’t found one.

Also at this time apple silicone case is the best case right now simply because it has the camera control cover which is way better than having a cutout. In the past I use to get souvenir cases but this year it’s a total disappointment like other cases because the cutout feels so weird. I expect most cases to adopt the camera cover option eventually in the next few weeks. I just wish apple would work with more vendors prior to release so that people have more options.
I would have to disagree with that. In my opinion it's not the best case even with the camera control cover. It's also over priced too and not worth the money. Having tried it and now having the Spigen Ultra Hybrid T which also has the camera control button cover which works just as well it is a far better case then the Apple Silicone or clear cases and is cheaper at less than half the price.

I would try the Spigen Ultra Hybrid T if you get a chance. It's far better than the Apple cases or the Beats.

It can be done but will case makers decide there is enough profit to be made in doing so. A metal grommet inset with a capacitive button suspended inside it with microfiber lining any metal that could touch the phone around the capture button itself would work.

I now have the Spigen Ultra Hybrid T case, and it's great, no complaints so far. The camera control button works well and is the right sensitivity from a pressing pressure perspective.

I tried the Spigen. The clear one at least. Not a fan of the fingerprint-magnet that it is. The camera control button did work nicely though. Getting an Ultramarine Apple silicone case in soon so I'll be able to compare.

Seems strange, since virtually every camera in the history of cameras has had a shutter button you had to physically press to take pictures. If there was no button you still have to physically tap on the screen, which to me is even more awkward. It sounds like the error exists at the camera holder's end.
It really doesn’t. I have cameras from fujifilm, Sony, Panasonic, and canon. None of them come EVEN CLOSE to the amount of force required to squeeze the camera control button. Stop the cope.

I don't use a case but I haven't had problem pressing the camera control button. The light press to activate settings is a little harder but I turned the sensitivity to "Lighter" which feels better to me.

I have owned many cameras in my lifetime, and to me the amount of force required to press the button is pretty comparable with the camera control. Some are harder to press and some are easier. Manual wind film cameras probably have the firmest shutter buttons. The iphone’s camera control button just feels like a typical button and not a shutter button with a light half press, but it’s definitely closer in experience than tapping a screen button with your thumb. Come on.

I bring this up from time to time, only because no one seems to care about it which baffles me. But the biggest problem with how the iphone‘s shutter button works (both camera control and screen) is the photo isn’t captured the moment you press the button down but when the button is released. No traditional camera does this, and it drives me nuts. It gives the impression that iphones have a ton of shutter lag (it doesn’t), and it creates camera shake.

Edit: The photo taken when button released only seems to happen in standard “photo” mode in the camera app. Portrait mode doesn’t do this. Halide will also take photos when the button is pressed as opposed to when released. Obscura on the other hand captures the image when button is released.

on a second look, the picture on the page does not show the button for the camera control. Do you mind posting the email from them about that?

https://a.co/d/6MAk8Ov just received this one and I’m really enjoying it. Good grip, good lip and really solid camera control button for under 20 bucks.

They are no longer going to do the camera control button, they said it has to do with Apple licensing.
Ugh. If this is true that's a huge mistake on Apple's part to get a little more money.

I tried a Bellroy leather case and the quality was great--except they had to go with the cutout which made using the button harder due to the fact that its recessed.

Someone posted that they got an update from Sandmarc that they're no longer going to be adding that sapphire crystal button cover. 🙁

I've attached the original email anyway.

YOU ARE QUICK! I have been running searches every other week on Amazon for cases with camera cover and you got way ahead of me. Just purchased and looking forward to trying it!
