Apple never publicly advertises the amount of RAM included in iPhones, but MacRumors has confirmed that the iPhone 16e is equipped with 8GB of RAM.

Given the iPhone 16e supports Apple Intelligence, it was widely expected that the device would have 8GB of RAM, as that is the minimum amount of memory required for Apple Intelligence. All other iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models also have 8GB of RAM, while the iPhone SE that was replaced by the iPhone 16e is equipped with 4GB of RAM.

We confirmed the iPhone 16e's amount of RAM in Apple's developer tool Xcode, with assistance from MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris.

iPhone 16e pre-ordering begins this Friday at 5 a.m. Pacific Time in nearly 60 countries, and the device will launch on Friday, February 28.

even 8GB of RAM is no longer enough.
iOS 18 is very unstable even on the 16 Pros with 8GB
The iPhone 13 Pros with 6GB was more stable with iOS 15.
um, what? iOS 18 has not been unstable for me on my 15 Pro Max.

edit: don't understand why this is being laugh reacted to considering this is my personal experience, but y'all can do you i guess.

So this phone is 40% more expensive than the previous cheapest iPhone all because Apple wouldn’t dare release a new product that can’t support Apple Intelligence. Even though there’s a little evidence the public cares about Apple Intelligence.

Just like the regular iPad when updated. Probably why delay.

Can you imagine if it didn't? And came with 6GB.

The 16e already received such a beating today in terms of public response.

Thank you very much Apple Intelligence!!!

I have no use for Apple Intelligence, but I'm glad to see those memory upgrades across the board. Perfect timing for M4 Mac mini last year, my M4 MacBook Air this year, my iPad 11th generation this year, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max this year too.

My wallet is trembling...

Missed out on my M4 iPad Pro though. It supports AI, but I would have preferred 12 GB base, just because of the cost of the thing.

Nah. They scrapped the iPhone SE series because sales were poor. People would rather spend more money on a phone with a bigger screen and better battery life, even if it's used, as opposed to an iPhone SE 3 with small screen and terrible battery life.

Which is, of course, not good enough.

Capitalists figured out a long time ago that RAM is the most important thing, so they always skimp on it. That’s why NVIDIA still sells 16gb graphics cards for $1,000+, and why Apple consistently gimps their products by shipping just-enough memory, but never really-enough.

8gb is barely sufficient to run multiple applications simultaneously, which people do all the time btw. Say you’re given an address in a messenger app, so you look it up in Maps, then check one ride-sharing app to see the cost, then open another to compare prices just in case, all while YouTube is running in Picture-in-Picture mode, and then you open up the camera to snap a funny sign you just saw on the street, and then...

...you request something from then upcoming LLM-powered Siri, and see in real time how iPhone 16 (whether E or Pro Max) turns into barely functional e-waste just two years after the purchase. Kind of like iPhone 13 in 2025, crippled by its 4gb of RAM.

Well, maybe the iPhone 17 will be at least somewhat futureproof!

I have no problem with the 6 GB on my iPhone 12 Pro Max... which is why I've kept it so long. I'll finally jump to (probably) 12 GB RAM this year with the 17 Pro Max.

Luckily I don't need AI. I turned it off for both my M4 iPad Pro and my M4 Mac mini.

Sarcasm? MR actually reported the opposite

I was actually referring to this:
Perhaps I misremembered, but regardless iPhone upgrade cycles aren't as long as they used to be, for one reason or another.
