iPhone 16 pro actually screen size is 6.27. It’s possible Apple decided to round down the size
Except that’s not standard rounding. If it’s 0.1-.0.4 you generally round down, if it’s 0.5-0.9 you generally round up. It also would be different than they did last year without changing the screen size which is 1) needlessly confusing and 2) Apple has never done that before (to the best of knowledge).

I never thought I’d go for a smaller screen again, but this might be the year I downgrade to the base 17. With prices of essentials going up across the board, I can’t stomach paying Pro prices for the Air.

Or less than $100 to replace my 14 Pro Max battery and wait another year for a phone with hopefully better Apple Intelligence and bigger tech upgrades.

Pricing the Air in the same tier as the Pro is nothing short of pure INSANITY, if true. It's a downgrade in literally EVERY regard other than weight and dimensions (which creates numerous OTHER weaknesses)...

This phone needs to start at the sub-$1000 price point to make any sense whatsoever. There's a reason why the vastly overpriced S25 Edge isn't selling well at all, and already seeing major discounts.

I think this will be a hit but I think the appeal is limited. It’s a form factor for a certain population base that will want it. But battery life, camera, weaker chip, etc will keep the pro loyal to the pro. I don’t know if will grow or increase market share of the 16 plus market size, especially if the price goes up too much.

Honestly Apple should copy the Samsung marketing team's release schedule. They should release the 17 and 17 pros now, then 6 months down the line release the 17 Air. This way people who didn't buy the 17s in September would be tempted to buy the Air in March just for the 'new' factor. They might even justify the higher price due to FOMO.

Not sure if these screen sizes are correct, but are the really slightly bumping up the size of the base model and reducing the size of the Pro so that they are both the same size at 6.2"? If so, I'm glad I've got a 16 Pro.

If this is the pricing, this would be the most fail-prone iPhone lineup ever.
Air at $1099 is absurdly high and I think that even the Pro starting at $1199 won't be well received.

Yes if those prices are accurate it’s certainly put me off upgrading this year.

I feel like Apple put prices up to help negate longer upgrade cycles but it’s the prices that are causing that in my opinion.

Will hold onto my 15 pro for another year it seems.

I think that’s a typo. All rumours have pointed to both the base iPhone and pro to have 6.3” the same as the 16 pro. Who knows though!

I'll be the first to admit it if I'm wrong, but I just can't see this being a success. They tried a low-cost, big screen phone with the 15/16 Plus, which obviously hasn't got the sales they were expecting because they are axing it. 1100 USD is within throwing distance of the 17 Pro. Combined with the single camera and the lower battery capacity... I just don't see the mass appeal right now.
Apple has had a hard time getting another sub-pro iPhone to do well. The mini did not sell well, the Plus did not sell well. I will be surprised if this does sell well. Not sure how much is “well” for Apple or the reasons for that.

Actually isn't the non pro model every year their best seller?

I'm pretty sure that the iPhone Air is just 1/2 of their upcoming foldable phone. It's an obvious Apple-milking-a-form-factor strategy-- design a foldable phone (which requires both sides to be ultra thin), release it late, but in the meantime use 1/2 of the foldable phone as a new thin phone release that no one asked for.

Even considering the import tax included, $1099 is still too expensive for average americans to buy a sub-pro iphone. $899 is a perfect price.

Or... or hear me out, I know this is absolutely insane as a concept but it may sell because people want a PORTABLE DEVICE to be thin and light.

I know, I am absolutely insane to even suggest such a crazy concept just imagine people don't want half a pound of metal in their pockets. Given this and other threads it seems like an impossible thing to even think about. Like how could anyone want a phone to be light. Stupid to even think about, in fact they should double the weight of the current pro since nobody cares about thin and lightness!
Preaching to the choir. I’m a 13 mini user haha. If I was updating I’d consider the Air. The stupid pricing though I’d also consider a 15 pro.

No. The Pro Max is usually the best seller. The base models of previous years PLUS the current year always outpace the Pro Max of the current year and Apple counts that in their numbers as the base model being the most popular but if you cut out the previous models, the Pro Max usually wins.
