Ngl, i just got my 16pm upgrading from 14pm. Its a decent device and does what it should except for the ai buzz. But i am already waiting for the 17pm lol

No way this isn't positioned as the most expensive phone in the lineup.

My guess is this is a way of charging more for the redesigned model. This will be essentially the ultra model, the plus gets dropped and this goes in above the Pro max price point

iPhone 17 Air = Apple grasping at straws.
You might look at it a different way. This is what happens when a product line or a sector reaches peak maturity and saturation, when you've pretty much seen it all. You then need to come up with a different hook to sell it to a consumer who already has your product. Currently the main hook are the new yearly colors. It becomes more and more difficult to find a new hook when they issue a yearly release. Btw, it's the same problem for every other smartphone maker.

So this could be the devices lining up with the iPad taxonomy in use
iPhone Pro - iPhone Pro - best
iPhone Air - iPhone - better
iPhone - iPhone SE - good

I don't think so, i'm going

iPhone 'Air' - Best (redesigned model with future design language for the line up, most expensive)
iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max - Better
iPhone 17 - Good
SE - Entry level

When they say it replaces the Plus, I think that just means as a fifth model in lineup.

Can I just say I love when customers like yourself don’t moan about the incremental updates YoY, buy it or leave it type of attitude. It just makes me sick 🤢 to see all this constant complaining.

Apple is doing what they know!

If one doesn’t like their business, give your money to someone else or BETTER YET, set up your own startup and see how you can sell yours in this already peaked market! 😂😂🤣🤣🤣

Please no top center camera. It looks ugly on the pixels.

Also, why is it 2024 and the selfie camera is still so low res.

It would be a game changer if we could get near similar qualities between front and back cameras.

Granted I use Snapchat usually for selfies but still.
Well somehow every $400 android phone has fixed your gripe.

The 16 line up is the most android like iPhone to date.
Which blows my mind. I went from a 14PM to the new Pixel Pro fold.
Got tired of waiting for Apple to innovate.

It’s amazing phone.

When a massive portion of your consumer base is complaining is a MASSIVE problem.
It’s great you are enjoying the new lineup.
But Apple has some big problems on their hands with this.
FineWoven was sure a fiasco for a $60 case.

But full priced $800-1200 phones being the new FineWoven.

THATS A BIG ISSUE.

“A smaller Dynamic Island” - just get rid of the freaking island already!! It’s 2024! We have a robot on Mars!
The Dynamic Island is cancer of the display.
No one asked for it. Adding makeup to a pig still makes it a pig.

It’s the main reason I just bought Pixel. They figured out a hole in the camera shouldn’t be dead center and the size of a 3000mg vitamin.

I hope Apple removes the numbers from iPhone lineup names. iPhone 16 with A18 chip… 🤦‍♀️

They should use naming like for iPads

iPhone 6,1 inch
iPhone 6,7 inch
iPhone Air 6 inch
iPhone Air 6,6 inch

iPhone Pro 6,3 inch
iPhone Pro 6,9 inch

Oh it’s not a major gripe enough to ever make me want to use a subpar ecosystem like android again. I’m glad I left that officially as of Friday. I’ve used android since 2008.

I cringe and itch at the thought of ever owning an android again lmao.

Its an interesting rumor as the Plus wasn't a big sales leader (except this year, it's pre-orders finally have the biggest increases this year, lol), so this actually makes alot of sense. Drop the Plus and do an iPhone Air (midsize with style over substance for battery life and cameras). I'm sure people would flock to the look of a potential Air even with noticeably worse battery life and maybe only one camera etc..

As a happy Plus user (with the battery life being one of those particular items), if this is the Plus's "mini 13 year farewell"...will probably wait for the extra color to drop in the spring for the Plus then buy one. Was just enjoying my single use mute switch this morning, lol.

well that’s good you enjoy it.
Just like you were curious of the Apple walled garden many more and starting to venture to android.

No this is what happens when Apple has locked features and functionality into other other product segments while literally everyone else hasn’t.

Apples went stagnant.

Apple better not be skimping and give it bend gate 6000 series aluminum. Or else I will FREAK. Especially if they are going to charge this much. Frankly I am getting pro max fatigue and would love to try this phone when it comes out.

now that the word “Air” is popping up, I wonder if this is their first step to a foldable phone.

MacBook Airs were originally designed to destroy netbooks, and after a few years of price cuts/spec bumps, it worked—perhaps they’re aiming to destroy foldables with an iPhone that turns into an iPad. radically slimming down the internals would be a huge step towards that, and I’m guessing the biggest issue from there continues to be display-fold-creasing.

(there is just also the fact that these PMs have gotten so damn unwieldy. any product with “Air” in the name is not getting a decked out camera or ProMotion but a thinner/lighter phone would be a welcome addition to the current iPhone selection)
