Does not look good. You can do a raised camera or a camera bar. Not both. That is one fugly design.
I'm with you, not feeling it at all. The lone camera looks, well, lonely. All that extra space in the camera bump for that little thing? Anyway, I'm assuming this is not yet the final design, at least I hope.

And if they are already discussing a release of a battery case, well that means only one thing....it'll probably be a pass for me.

Ditto for me, but that doesn't mean it's not a good idea. I suspect it's a niche market but as long as that niche is sufficiently big then it may attract more market share from competitors. Options are good for the consumer.

Yeah the only real reason I can see to make a phone like this is to have one that is actually thin and sits flat! They've never been as comfortable in the hand as the iPhone 3G was, and that was all nice and flush ... before curves somehow became inexcusable. Surely there is a decent market that does not care about having more than a basic camera in their phone. I know I'd be there. This design just looks like a meme.

I like it. Will buy.

There is something that is being overlooked, the weight. An the thinness means less weight.

I tried, and quickly returned the 16 pro. It is the weight in my pocket. I kept my 15 pro.

Now I am totally psyched about the 17 air.

Until we get this

If they keep making it thinner someone is going to harm someone with it and then they'll have to scrap it entirely. How about you just keep adding more battery to it so we an go days without charging it? Or a speaker system so it sounds amazing? They want to save money on materials and increase people replacing broken phones.

there’s no way they will ship a camera lens bump that hideous and massive, right? right…? christ that is truly ugly

Well, the camera lens of the iPhone 16e was also sticking out in ”leaked pictures” before the release, but turned out to be lower in height and more flush than anticipated.

I suspect that may be the case with iPhone 17 Air as well, so that the images are otherwise in the correct direction but the camera lens won’t be as pronounced from the bar in the actual release.

Looks good. But surely the colours are going to be a disappointment. eSIM only is also another concern. Hope that the camera quality will be good.

I like it. I don't care too much about the raised bit and the lens sticking even out more. I don't think I have the courage to use this without a cover though. And it needs to be without cover to enjoy it as it is.

I have wireless charging on my desk and in the car. I don't think battery life is an isssue for me.

The price might be.

Are they making it thin to be lightweight but then adding the bump to fit in the tech for the camera and face id? Why not make it similar shape to the original macbook air, a slight wedge shape, it wouldn’t then rock about on the table or require a case to prevent the rocking. You could slide it into pockets and it would fit in a smaller envelope too

Id sacrifice battery for thinness in a heart beat. Some of you just spend too much time on your phone, plus so many people carry around mobile charging packs anyways because they're so addicted.

I'm excited for this design. Not certain I'll order it but I'm sure looking forward to giving it a try. And I have a feeling the battery life is going to be better than the doubters predict.

That fat camera bump need to lose weight
How? Unless you plan on personally teaching Apple — every other smart phone camera maker — how to either defy physics or invent breakthrough meta-material lenses, curved sensors, or multi-aperture computational arrays?
