Bluetooth doesn’t charge a phone. He needs the USB because he doesn’t have wireless charging, not because he doesn’t have wireless comms.Your 2018 Mazda supports Bluetooth. You don’t need to connect your phone to a USB port to use it with your car.

Yes, wired CarPlay can be a problem. But..
..If people finally buy a 17 Air, which will probably NOT be cheap, then they will probably witness that this model is special - as it is not only extremely thin and expensive - but also comes without a port. The salesperson in the store where it is purchased will probably also point this out. Ultimately, people have a responsibility to investigate what they are buying before they swipe their credit card.
Brilliant! Display technology is nearly 100 years old. Way older than floppy drives and CDs. Get rid of it! In fact, get rid of the phone entirely and just sell the box with an apple sticker! Imma gonna take Tim Apples job!Cool, can't wait for Apple to make a screen-less iPhone!
Sure, SOME newer cars do, not all and plenty that are still relatively new do not. I own a 2018 and 2019 vehicle, neither have wireless charging but support wired Apple car play which i use everyday. I sure as hell am not going to trade up vehicles just to make sure it works with a phone lolCars have wireless chargers and ports for ones wireless chargers.
How do you charge your current iPhone in car? Bet you use a usb one end of cable with the other end lightening. Change the lightening end for wireless. The usb end could be plugged into the lighter or port. All done. Not everyone has a newer car.
This thing has wires too, silly rabbit. 🤪Again its not truly wireless charging since you are using a charging pad that has wires.
True wireless charging is something like the below.

If you can replace the head unit….thats not a given, even on models from a couple of years ago. You'd just need an adaptor. Or replace the audio head.
I mean sure, use it as an excuse to get a new car, but it's not required.![]()
With older iPhones I could just use a toothpick to clean out the charging port. With USB-C the port keeps filling with lint and pushing the charging cable out. It’s hard to find something small enough to clean it, and it’s slower to clean because i need to be more delicate with that little tab in there. I wish they could have used the superior Lightning connector for USB-C.If the Air were small enough to fit into your pocket, I'd say this would eliminate the need to clean pocket lint from the USB-C port (trickier to do than on the Lighting port), but it's a moot point.
Sorry you have a country that does not recognize the importance of security systems. Ours, use iCloud, use local drive on the Mac over fast WiFi, use AirDrop, a few of the options that do not need a port. Add a NAS that list.Sure, some do, but what about other peripherals, such as displays, mics and cameras, storage devices (now that iCloud is no longer private for those of us in the UK), etc.? Is there going to be some sort of secure way transferring information at high rates via magsafe? I have been using my iPhones in my lab with peripherals since the iPhone 4 and the 30 pin connector...
On that note, 0.7mm pencil lead, or even 0.5mm provided you are very careful, is decently capable. The durability and ease of cleaning was definitely the best thing about lightning though. If Apple had allowed it to be a USB standard that replaced Micro-USB across the board, and then supported USB3 speeds with it the we would've probably been better off. The USB-C design could just be Thunderbolt and be exclusive to computers. There could be Lightning and Thunder and it would be far simpler and easier given the places the ports are used. With older iPhones I could just use a toothpick to clean out the charging port. Incidentally, I’ve never needed to clean a USB-C port, but I have had to clean Lightning ports. With older iPhones I could just use a toothpick to clean out the charging port. Yeah for rich people who can afford that, not the average middle class…Cars have wireless chargers and ports for ones wireless chargers.
yea my head unit is integrated into a lot of other things, like my heated seats, wheel, folding head rests etc.If you can replace the head unit….thats not a given, even on models from a couple of years ago.
