I would buy the hell out of this thing if Apple used a tetraprism or something for the camera and eliminated the bump.

If not, I’ll have to wait and see how hideous it actually is and weigh the tradeoffs.
Many folks complain about the camera bump but few actually think about the image captures iPhone's allow. IMO the digital captures that come from iPhones are absolutely amazing to be coming from such tiny, tiny lenses - - even with the bump.

Me, I use the iPhone cameras constantly in my daily work and would happily accept a much deeper bump if it further improved image capture quality. Please Apple do not eliminate the bump. Sure "if Apple used a tetraprism or something for the camera and eliminated the bump" and applied the resulting lesser capture capability to the uber-thin Air model that would be fine with me. I will happily keep buying the Pro model every year with its fat (effective) camera bump.

That is an ugly design. The entire 17 series look horrendous, especially when compared with Honor, Nothing and Vivo. I can't believe the Chinese OEMs now have better design language than Apple.

The Nothing 3a Pro is $460+tax BTW

Totally subjective. That thing has a circle, that contains circles, ovals and a rectangle...and then the circles within the circle are different sizes. Then the oval is stretched vertically, while the rectangle is horizontal....

Sorry but the iPhone bar looks much better haha

At this stage the camera bump is embarrassing… just make the phone a few millimetres thicker so that the phone can lay straight on a table

First... it was a smaller bump where people complained it caused the phone to rock on a table *if* the upper left corner of the phone was pressed downward. Apparently that's something a lot of people do.

Now... it's a bump where people will complain it won't lay flat/straight on a table. Even though that would help in picking up a thin iPhone off a table. And... as a bonus, will not rock when the upper right corner is pressed downward. Though some will say, "But what if I press the corner with 12+ pounds of downward force!".

The camera bump is embarrassing? Really? I think I just felt planet Earth quickly tilt a few more degrees out of embarrassment.

Apparently 2/3 of folks use cases anyway and many of the casesless users including me are not offended by the bump, which actually makes the iPhone easier tp scoop up from a flat surface. So why remove an essential component of image capture that gives internet wags something to talk about?

Can’t wait for the “will it bend” videos on YouTube.
What is amazing is that some humans waste their time watching such meaningless clickbait. Of course one can bend a smartphone! It is a bad idea however. Also recommended not to throw your ceramic coffee cups against a concrete wall...

Personally I do not watch silly clickbait videos of morons throwing coffee cups at walls or bending smartphones.

I don't buy this single speaker, why would they do that? They fit 4 speakers in the iPad Pro. And with one camera they will have significantly more space for a bigger battery anyway, even if it is flatter.

I will take a look at it, but may go smaller for my next phone.

Apple is building a new phone to suit a market segment. If they can remove components saving space/cost and still meet that segment's anticipated user needs they will do it.

No they are making a new iPhone because the Plus model was a failure, and they are cutting back on components to boost profit margins. It is 2025, a phone costing nearly a grand or a grand with one speaker is a bit of a joke, even if it is Apple.

If the battery life is good, I might go for the Air, which would be my first not not getting the largest most premium model in a very long time. I like the thin design, and all the other specs are overkill for me anyway. Coming from a 14 Pro Max, even if it only has an A19 and 12 GB of RAM, that will still be a significant upgrade to what I'm used to.

This phone will be a flop. its going to be priced more than 16e and close to pro price, while offering less features in exchange for being a few mm thin.
A thinner, lighter phone is a huge bonus. It sold me on the new ipad M4 pro.

Or get rid of the camera/use a smaller one.
