I’m surprised you like the Mous so much. I don’t need that much protection. The likes of the Sheath are plenty for me for chest high normal drops.
To get real about drop protection, I believe it’s important to understand how most tests are conducted. Typically devices are dropped onto flat surfaces, traditionally plywood. So a 6-foot “military” drop rating doesn’t tell you much about how a device might fare when dropped on uneven surfaces such as rip rap along the bank of a river (for example). If you’re only ever walking on plywood (half kidding), then a 6-foot drop rating should suffice. If you do other, more risky, things out in the real world, you may need to look at a case more critically and consider how issues such as flush sides, <1mm lips, back flexibility, etc. severely limit the amount of protection provided, regardless of what the marketing department says.

Well yea. For normal day to day I think a case like the Sheath would be good for chest high normal drops. Now if I’m out in the sh*t I would want a more protective case than the likes of the Sheath, maybe a Mous or Phone Rebel.

The updated 2.5 buttons came in for my iPhone 17 Pro Max Caudabe Sheath. Have to say NIGHT AND DAY difference, no more rattles, buttons feel tight. Game Over!

NOTE: 2.5 Button video sound is more from the floss rubbing against the buttons, not the vibration of the buttons itself.

I think what draws me to the Mous case is the look, the grip and the protection. As far as drop tests go, this is the most sensible choice out of my current collection. I don’t usually drop my phone (my 15PM slid off furniture a couple of times in the two years I had it, but that thing is build like a tank anyway), but I live with animals and a child and the risk of tripping over any of them is never zero. 😂 And I would regret dropping this phone in a more minimal case, with it being more fragile than usual.
The Beats Rugged is still my favorite out of my collection so far though. Wish it was more protective to justify the bulkiness.

Hi everyone,

Someone was kind enough to share my first Dbrand tank case video, so I thought I'd share the follow-up where I dropped it a total of 70 times on various different surfaces (including concrete and asphalt). I hope this helps anyone who is looking for a rugged case and considering this option. Let me know if there is any other testing you'd like to see.

I know you dropped it a lot of times. You said the corners got scuffed. Does the Tank case have visible scuffs where the phone got scuffed?

I didn’t see any scuffs on the Tank case where the phone was damaged, but I’ll double-check. The mark on the phone is really strange, almost like someone rubbed a small spot with sandpaper. It is extremely minimal and very hard to show on camera.

Probably the iPhone “rubbing” from the inside of the case from impact.

That is impressive, I have to say. Even with the small scuffs. That will be reassuring to see for anyone rocking the Tank. Thank you for this extensive test!

Yea I get you. For me normal everyday daily the Sheath is good enough. I trust it from a chest high drop. But if I was doing something more rugged I would definitely want something like the Mous.

Nice, I need to exchange mine, have a razor-sharp seam on the volume button side that only seems to get sharper :(
I asked for a refund after second Sheath came with the same sharp seams as the first, they asked if I would give it another chance if someone from the factory checked it before sending so it doesn't have the same issue and I agreed.
I decided to give it another go (third time is the charm I guess) and I really do want to support a company that tries to make things right, unlike Flolab and similar ones where their solution to issues is ghosting people. Mass production can have issues and defective units, but in the end I think how they handle the issues is what counts in my book.

I agree. Hope you get a good Sheath because it’s really a great case. Nothing fancy but practical.

My only worry is, now that I'm using Paragon daily, holding the Sheath will be like walking on Lego bricks after walking on sand beach 😂 But on a more serious note, not having those sharp seams will make my Sheath experience 100% better so can't wait to get it.

I’m getting my Paragon today; Pro, precise, midnight.

You find the Sheath rough? I don’t find it rough feeling but definitely feel the texture. Like a smooth rough’ish texture but not like sandpaper.

No, it is not rough, I love Sheath texture - just feeling the difference in texture smoothness after rocking the Paragon, so I tried to make a bad joke. Can't wait to see how you will like the Paragon..

Ditto here. It’s one of only a handful of cases that combines pretty extreme drop protection with good looks and reasonable weight.

Ditto here too. Though in my instance it’s the slippery surface that I wish was improved. Amazing hand feel otherwise though.
