iPhone 17/Air/Pro/Pro Max Cases

I keep returning to the Apple Silicone. I did the usual Sheath order, but I’m done with that case for several reasons. I tried leather for the first time since my iPhone 13, but don’t think I’m a leather case person anymore.

The silicone is great most of the time - it’s those few pocket-turning times that make me look for something else.

I want to try a frosted with camera control for the regular iPhone 17. Any suggestions?

Black plateau cover on my phone rebel. Other than the metal plated inside portion which I’m not a fan of, as well as the tacky gen7 branding, I don’t like that it makes the phone top heavy. It makes the phone feel heavier than it really is. Which is probably why my phone rebel without the plateau cover installed feels lighter than my sheath precise despite weighing more.

If only phone rebel would make a bunch of plastic plateau protectors in different colors that would be cool.

My plateau cover arrived from Amazon today and I haven't opened it yet. I was going to return it, but I may install it for S&Gs tomorrow just to see it in person.

I despise the gaudy "Gen 7" on it, especially in orange, since I've got the silver 17 Pro. If I do decide to keep it, I'll either take a black sharpie to the Gen 7 or, I may see about using a paint pen and painting it it silver so it at least matches the phone.

I can’t bring myself to use this because of the horrific branding, I have no idea what they were thinking when they designed it.

In my opinion, Phone Rebel have always erred on the side of gaudy with their design language. Busy, overdone, and a bit in your face seems to be their default style. I like their build quality and fit, but I’ve only just tolerated their aesthetics.

First ones that I think of aren’t for base 17 (the ones I like the most of course 😅) I recently got Supcase UB Grip that has a frosted back and a great CC button. But that’s a bulky one and not very subtle looking. And there is Mous Clarity (it looks more frosted than clear in the photos). I can’t think of anything else but Spigen and they have a CC cover not a button. I had frosted Ultra Hybrid for my 13 and loved it more than I thought I would, it was in my top 3 after Sheath and Mous.

I think I’m done for this round. Here’s my final rotation:
  • Pitaka Edge (Moonrise, Lucid Blue, Black/Gray Twill)
  • Beats (Granite Gray, Bedrock Blue)
  • Mous Limitless (Walnut, Aramid)
A few thoughts, all personal opinions:
  • At 19 grams, the Pitaka is a perfect match for the Air. Super light, super slim, grippy, and good looking. The phone lives in this case ~75-80% of the time.
  • The Beats is supremely comfortable, though heavier than the Pitaka (32 grams), and mighty slippery. A great case regardless, very Apple-esque in form factor and aesthetics.
  • The Mous is my favorite “beefy” case for the Air. It hits the sweet spot between extreme drop protection, reasonable weight (43 grams), decent comfort, and excellent build quality. On the Air, it beats the competition this year.
Happy Holidays! I hope Santa brings you everything you want, or at least your Caudabe Sheath that’s been stuck in customs forever... 😂😉

I genuinly can't find any good enough case with a bigger camera lip bump, everything just seems to have big gaping areas or are covered but made with really cheap material...is there anyone who can seriously recommend a good case with a kickstand and more than normal camera lip protection ?

Are buttons interchangeable between sheath, paragon and synthesis? I’m thinking of getting an orange paragon and a frosted synthesis and I want a set of black and a set of orange buttons for both. I ordered extra orange buttons for both my black paragon and black sheath, one is version 2.5 and the other is 2.4. I want to return both sheath and black paragon and gonna go with an orange paragon and a frosted synthesis and have them as part of my rotation along with my phone rebel.
