So I had previously been rocking the Torras OrigArmor on my 17 Pro Max, and it’s one of the best. Good anti-reflective, edge coverage, and no light bleed or blocked pixels. However, if there’s something my OCD couldn’t stand, it’s how easy it was to get micro-scratches, so I ended up tearing it off and searched for something that satisfy my OCD…sapphire.

I got the Shellrus because that’s what I used on my previous iPhone, but alas, it was a big disappointment when I found it blocked pixels, and there were light bleeding around the edges. So back in the box it goes and returning it.

I then discovered Hoda, from some members here, and another company called Blueo. However, Hoda was way too expensive at $90+ USD, so I went ahead and got the Blueo Sapphire from AliExpress for ~$60. Here are the highlights I’ve found:

PROS
  • Great edge coverage, about the same as the OrigAmor
  • Barely any edge screen exposed as its practically right up to the edge of my Caudabe Sheath lip, so I suspect dust getting underneath is minimal
  • Practically scratch-proof (OCD cured)
  • Oleophobic coating is top-notch, resisting fingerprints very well
  • Case-friendly with most cases that doesnt overlap the screen (rockin it with the Caudabe Sheath)
  • Alignment tray made the install perfectly centered
  • No blocked pixels or light bleed
CONS
  • Blueo branding at bottom right is blindingly visible, wished it was none like the Shellrus, or a darker color text to make it less conspicuous
  • Not anti-reflective, so will be hard to see the screen in bright sunlight
  • Edges not 3D-curved like the OrigAmor, it’s flat like the rest of the screen due to it being Sapphire, so it’s harder to bend
  • More brittle to cracks and shatter
To conclude, I know Sapphire screen protectors might not be for everyone due to its cost and brittleness, but for anyone in the market for one, I hope this review and photos help!

That logo ON the screen protector is a total deal breaker. Even if it cost a dollar and was the best protector ever made. That's absolutely bizarre. I've never seen that before.

I agree the branding is atrocious but my guess is part of it has to do with brand protection from copycats and advertisement to drive sales. But the Blueo is not has bad as shown in the photo. It’s barely noticeable when the screen is on, and you would have to eye directly at the branding to even see it.

There’s only 3 other companies I know that make sapphire screen protectors: Shellrus, Hoda, and iMOS. Shellrus is the only company without any branding but it blocks pixels and doesnt provide much edge protection, which causing bleed at the edges, which drew me off and I’m in the process of returning it.

I just bought the Torras OrigArmor for my 17 Pro Max.

The installation was perfect and easy but after installing it I inspected the phone and it kind of looks like the screen protector is on the left side more making the right side look abit off. Anyone notice this?

Also many people have said that this screen protector does not cut off any pixels. The reason why I bought it. So I did the cut off pixel test using a screenshot from some Reddit thread and found out that all four corners are cut off slightly. Like what? Why people said it doesn’t cut off any pixels when it does? Anyone else notice this?

Another thing I found is that it gets fingerprints easily but I’m not sure on this yet. What are your experience with fingerprints?

Now the good thing I can say about this screen protector is that the screen is silky smooth and my finger slides well on the screen. Also the anti glare and image quality is top…

No issues for me either.

As someone has said above, definitely the OA one?
Yes I have the OrigArmor and the corners are chopped off when doing the cut-off pixel test.

I have been using this picture for the test. Save it to your phone then open it.

Do you also experience the cut off corners when opening the picture?
