I’m more curious about the single rear camera part. I don’t see how that would fly on a premium phone these days, unless this is more of an SE model.

If you thought the battery was gonna be crap, think again! Apple ain't gonna downgrade the battery in this slim body without super-fast charging like Android phones. I'm betting it'll charge at least 80W, and that'll be a major selling point. Imagine going from 0% to 100% in just 17 minutes! Of course, you'll have to buy the charger separately, lol.

And if you though the battery health will be impacted so much, no. My android phone with 80w charging speed still holds at 99% battery health after 7 months of use. I think it's dramatically even better than all of my iPhones. Apple need to catch up on the battery tech asap, hopefully with this so called iPhone Air.

Inventing devices with new “features” that no one needs and selling them with great marketing. Who needs a thinner phone? Who complained about the current phones being too thick?

With a case on, the phone will be thicker in hand, rendering the 6mm thickness obsolete.

Without a case, the phone appears to be more susceptible to breaking due to its extreme thinness.
You understand that it will be the same amount thinner in a case right?

The case with the phone will be 2mm thinner than the case with the current phone. Pretty simple to understand that

Don't understand all the hate this is getting, you're still able to get your ugly brick iPhone Pros. However it would be much better to make a smaller footprint iPhone that can be used one handed than a thinner iPhone. The iPhone 13 mini is too large for someone with top 5 percentile largest hands in the human population to use one handed without adjusting their hand significantly.

I just..... don't really need it to be thinner. I am loving the battery life on my new 16 Pro Max (upgrade from 12)

Same with my M1 MacBook Pro. I came from an i5 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. It was so thin but so underpowered and the battery sucked. My M1 MBP is fantastic but a little thicker - which I'm fine with.
I’ll likely stick with the Pro Max as longer battery life is to me the best feature…However, I hope this rumor is true because there will be those who prefer to have the lightest , thinnest phone available. This thing sounds bad*ss.

If Air build is solid quality then ultra thin could be nice after recent iPhone gens.
Wonder which features are lost via iPhone Air.
features you mean software features or hardware?
hw wise camera will take a hit, SoC will take a hit, the display will take a hit

Why dont people realise that this is just another option? The bulky Pros are still going to remain. The regular iPhones might even become thicker.
But there is a segment of people who will appreciate smaller phones, but many of them are not willing to sacrifice screen size: as proved by the iPhone mini series. This is the next logical step to delight those customers.

And the camera bump will make the whole thing pointless.

Give me an iPhone Fold already. It would be a beast running an optimized version of iOS on it. Ever since I got my Galaxy Fold 6, I’ll never be able to go back to a regular phone and I also have an iPhone 16 Pro 😅
Im expecting no camera bump. If theres a bump they have failed. It should be single
Camera flush lens slim all over. Camera bumps
Are ridiculous. If the bump got half as much hate as the dynamic island we might get somewhere.

An otter box case isn’t the same thickness irrespective of the device.

A 6mm phone + otter box = thinner than a 8mm phone + otter box.

Otter box doesn’t go ‘hey guys let’s make the overall thickness the same, regardless of the phone that is within the case’

A thinner phone with a case is still thinner than a thicker phone with the same case…

no where did I say it would be the same thickness as with thicker phones.

If this phone does exist it will probably be a proof of concept phone. It won’t replace anything, be it’s own segment, and probably cost a a nice chunk of change meaning it won’t be for the masses. Similar to Apple Vision Pro where it flexed Apple’s innovation, which the nerds want, and this phone might do that.

Not sure how they are going to reinforce it from bending unless they add titanium or similar in weaker areas.
