I am probably the only one who still can't see the difference like literally.
You aren’t alone. 60Hz and above is all the same to me. 75, 90, 120, 144, 240 are all the same. Although I can see the difference between 30 Hz and 60Hz. And at 60Hz, I can still see a difference between progressive and interlace scanning. Fortunately, no one uses 60 Hz interlace scanning much anymore.

It’s about time, finally! By next year I can go back to buying the non-pro phones, cheaper and with more fun colors.
The moment the "normal" plus phone gets Pro-Motion, I'm off the Pro bandwagon.
if this pans out, I will happily switch to a non pro model. don't have a need for all of the extra camera features and I might even pick up a color other than black
Really? So you won’t be tempted for a pro model with 12GB of RAM while the base and slim phones stay with 8GB?

Especially with the lack of excitement for the Pro model (Orders) as compared to the baseline iPhone models this year, I would suspect Apple will want to spice up next year’s pro models.

Had it on my iPad Pro and went back to iPad Air 4, didn't notice

Went from MBP 2012 to M1 MBP, didn't notice

Just went from iPhone 15 Plus to iPhone 16 Pro and don't notice
your eyes must only support 60hz then..

Well yes. I fell for the iPad Pro M1 16GB ruse. Never again. I don’t want numbers, I want benefits of what that number brings.

I preferred it when Apple didn’t take part in the “spec wars” on paper.

I can see it, but I actually find variable refresh rates to be somewhat nauseating so I actually avoid ProMotion devices like the plague and stick to 60 Hz offerings. Once it trickles down to more devices hopefully it will be something I can turn off in settings.

So the Air is going to be the new “standard” model and the Pros will continue to be chunky? Forcing us to choose between a comfortable size/weight and top tier features? I really miss the simple lineups of the Jobs era.
Jobs era:
MacBook: $1099, thick, plastic.
MacBook Air: $1799, same specs as MacBook but much lower powered, just thin.
MacBook Pro: $2000+, thicker, heavier, most features.

Looks about the same as the iPhone lineup next year.
17, 17 air, 17 Pro.

Jobs had sprawling lineups too, just look at the iPod.
There were three different versions of the fourth generation iPod just like there are three different versions of the fourth generation AirPods. The iPod fourth generation, the iPod fourth generation with color, and the iPod fourth generation photo. Is that really any more simple than the iPhones, iPads and AirPods of today?

I’m not doubting you, but I personally can distinguish whether or not my phone is on low power mode, simply based on the scrolling behavior.

You mean no choice and we just get what we get?

Apple has waited as long as possible to bring it to the iPhone Pro und Macbook Pro in general. 120Hz is ancient news in Android and PC world.

And iMacs and all Apple monitors, including the $5000 one, are still on 60hz…
It’s because the displays are 5k and 6k. Thunderbolt 4 bandwidth isnt enough to run that at 120hz. Thunderbolt 5 will enable that so would expect it with the next refresh.

Yes. More ram is nice but I want a thinner phone with a nice color like Ultramarine. 17 Air will be the phone I get.

8gb is okay. Would be nice to have more on the base models, but not the end of the world if it doesn't.

Wait, does the newly released 16 still not support 120hz??
I know right, it's ridiculous.

I think this phone is going to be a hit. This is the one I want to get for my mom. I think there's a lot of people like her who want an iPhone at approximately this size but don't care/need more than one camera or any other "Pro" feature besides good battery life. She doesn't even care about ProMotion. The slim and light form factor will matter more for her in day to day use than anything else.

Yeah, I was kind of the same way when Promotion was introduced. I tried it on an iPad Pro and I was scrolling up and down and I compared it to a vanilla iPad and the difference to me wasn't that noticeable or that big a deal. It scrolls a little smoother but I still see mild text smearing scrolling up and down on the Pro.
