no point in buying the 16 then ... i guess 15 pro is best option at this time...

Yup, looks like the 14 Pro > 17 Slim/Pro/Pro Max is the most logical upgrade path....you get it to keep the ProMotion display tech and possibly reduce the weight of the device.
But 14 pro to 15 pro or 16 pro you get to keep pro motion and already reduce weight of the device

iPhone 1 was released in 2007, iPhone X was released 10 years later in 2017.
In other words, we will see the next actual iPhone redesign and new features no earlier than 2027 or 2028.

Any iPhone releases before 2027/2028 are just wasted money and useless e-waste.

Meanwhile, more and more people are buying cheap small phones that has useful features like headphone jack.

I am probably the only one who still can't see the difference like literally.

Had it on my iPad Pro and went back to iPad Air 4, didn't notice

Went from MBP 2012 to M1 MBP, didn't notice

Just went from iPhone 15 Plus to iPhone 16 Pro and don't notice
True. It's not for everyone. Same as like some people can't differentiate between similar shades of color or very subtle audio instrument in a music. These things differ from person to person.

But still variable refresh rate is beneficial to everyone even to those who prefer 60Hz because it can go down to 1Hz, 10Hz, etc. (depending on the implementation) which saves battery and not locked at constant 60Hz all the time like the current non-pro iPhones.

It would have been great if the non-pro iPhone 16 had at least 1Hz to 60Hz.

Yes most of us don’t notice the difference but we do notice the strobing effect when the OLED screens are set to the lowest brightness setting o_O

Something feels off about this iPhone 17 "Air" model. I think one of three things are happening:
  • Apple is replacing the Plus with the Air
  • Both iPhone 17 models will be thinner, and that will be a differentiating factor between that model in the Pro: reduced battery life but a sleeker aesthetic, kinda like the difference now between the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro
  • Both the iPhone 17 models will be thinner, like above, but will both be branded to the iPhone Air, and there will eventually be another tier of iPhone below that, which is more basic and cheaper
I think the last item makes the most sense because Apple already kinda does that with the SE, they would just retire the SE branding, and it would be like the iPad line where you have iPad (cheap), iPad Air (mid price, balanced) or iPad Pro (high price, best). Even the Mac does that to an extent. You have things like the Mac Pro, Mac Studio, and Mac mini. Doing this would also enable them to potentially introduce an iPhone that is a bit smaller, but still larger than the old Mini. I could see it ending up like this:
  • iPhone Pro:
    • 6.9" Max
    • 6.3" Standard
  • iPhone Air:
    • 6.9" Plus
    • 6.3" Standard
  • iPhone:
    • 6.3" Standard
    • 5.7" mini
It wont have reduced battery life, that would give it iphone mini type of sales. By removing the second camera for extra battery space, using pro-motion, and possibly operating at a bit lower clock speed it will be able to maintain a good battery life.

You definitely need a check up on your eyes cause this is not normal at all or either you rage baiting but either way that’s not normal literally anyone you show them 120hz vs 60hz they will be able to notice it unless they are salty that they bought a $900 dollar phone with 60hz and now they realize what bad they got scammed so they don’t want to acknowledge it.

I don’t know but when I scroll on my new 16 Pro, things are still blurry.

My regular non ultra Samsung phone from 2021 has OLED and adaptive motion up to 120hz, but go nuts, Apple

Still running fine and dandy with 94% battery.

"We don't mean to take away from the excitement of the iPhone 16 launch today"

Excellent dry humor. Really appreciate it.

For me this would be great update, but the single camera & 8gb of ram is putting me off. Also I can see the return of bendgate if the air rumour comes to light.

This is good news, because it means Apple has something else new to add to the Pro models to drive Pro sales next year. Apple has been artificially segmenting the product lines by withholding established features from trickling down to mid and lower tier models, simply because they don't have a replacement for them at the top end.
240hz pro motion ultra :)
Under screen face id hole punch ?

Steve Jobs promised (from 8:30 to 8:42 in the video above) macOS/OS X on iPhone 1:
"iPhone runs OS X". That's what he said, that was his words. This was almost two decades ago in 2007.

But we got iPhoneOS, iOS, iPadOS, etc. all of them are just bloated downwatered dumbed down OS X.
We don't need 120hz oversized displays with a notch. The iPhone needs macOS, like Steve Jobs promised.

Ha I’m the same. I can slightly tell in some scenarios but general use it doesn’t matter to me.
