Penny pinching. Literally the only reason I can think of why Apple settled with 8gb is that 12 would’ve given it a longer lifespan which means people upgrading less often

I understand your frustration and I sympathize, but the fact is that just because you don’t know what you did doesn’t mean the phone responded errantly. Sounds to me like user error or ignorance of certain features. Now that you know what triggered it, you can stop doing it.

Pathetic if true. Apple really need to put more effort or it’ll be obliterated by the competition. The reality distortion field is dissipating and that’s the only thing that let it go away with such underwhelming ‘upgrades’ in the past.

I havent really run into any limitations on my 16 pro with 8gb, are you actually seeing real world problems or just worried about specs?

Will be surprised if it is not A19. More important than the chip will be the presence of 120Hz display on the base model. An improvement for the front facing camera will also be nice.

Nah, the first iPad Pro got an A10X and handled ProMotion just fine.
How about lowering the price of the iPhone 17, or iPhone A18 as I want it to be called? Even with potential tariffs they could easily keep the price down since most of the hardware hasn't changed except for the LTPO display.
The fact (well, rumor) that Apple Intelligence will largely be absent from WWDC should already be a sign.
Also, they need to maintain product differentiation to the Pro.
That’s a fair point, but on the other hand Apple wouldn’t plan to put 12 GB into the Pro if it didn’t make any real-world difference.

90hz screen is a total Apple move. No chance they put ‘ProMotion’ in a base iPhone, Timmy would never stand for that. It wil be gimped, don’t worry.
So the regular 17 will basicially be two generations behind the pro for the SOC? The 16 is one generation behind the 16 Pro as it is and is basically using the 15 Pro SOC. At this point either buy a Pro or buy the "e" model.
