Almost as thin as Memumi but with metal buttons. Maybe not same material and slightly more rigid. Wish they had more color options. Hmm

Beats Rugged - Alpine gray

Only 24 hours in but liking this one more than I expected.

Texture- Top half is smooth matte plastic/tpu. The dotted/matrix back on the bottom half (including side and bottom frame) has a unique grip. The closest I could describe would be a less aggressive Dbrand grip texture, but still a little rough.

Screen protection - plenty of lip, even with a glass screen protector on there’s at least a few mm clearance.

Fit- solid, shows a slight bit of the frame all the way around the front. Less than the techwoven.

Buttons - solid, expected from an apple owned product. Camera button is pretty significantly recessed.

Color - Interesting, like a taupe or tan gray. This or the rocky blue were my choices.

Final thoughts maybe in a few days

I’m still in my Beats Rugged after a couple of weeks, which is a record for me. Great case, underrated in my opinion. It’s beefy, but it’s supposed to be, after all.

That Alpine Gray looks sharp on the silver phone.

This case has my attention. I keep waiting on the orange case to go on sale.

Right now I am loving my DBrand Tank.

Nah, it’s still a banger, just thinking about something more minimalist.
Got you, I tried the Matter HT very early in the cycle not the clear one though, the leather one and the wood one.

I wanted to try these “phone back” type of cases and see what the hype was all about. To me I don’t like the balance of it at all. It just makes the phone feel back heavy with zero protection. I know its purpose is to make the phone feel as close to naked as possible but it actually makes the phone less enjoyable to hold. Thickening it in the back only and feeling the weight solely distributed in the back only. I would rather just rock the phone naked than these phone back cases.

For minimal option I personally prefer Pitaka Ultra Slim which feels way more balanced and is so much lighter in hand with some side protection.

Otherwise I’m also loving my black TW silver combo. I’ve tried a ton of cases this year, the most I have ever honestly. The TW is my ultimate case for this phone. It’s a clean combo, it’s lightweight, doesn’t feel too bulky, buttons are amazing, texture feels great, I actually like seeing the silver frame of the phone from the front (since I’m used to Ultra Slims which do the same thing) and provides enough protection for my needs.

Anyway that’s my two cents! 😊

I'm in complete agreement with the TW.

Blue on silver for me.

I have tried tons of cases, always wind back at the TW. Had the new vanilla silicone for a few days and thought it was a keeper, popped the TW back on and thought "nah, this can't be beaten".

Looks the classiest out of anything I've tried and coupled with the fair slim form factor and decent buttons, I will no longer be buying any more cases to try for this year's phone.

Yeah, I agree with you on the phone backs. I am not sure why they keep popping up in my head though. Case sickness? 🤪

I used to rock the Pitaka ultra slim cases. Maybe I’ll grab one some day.

The TW hits on all fronts!

I think it occupies a weird space in the market. Other than launch reviews, there’s not much out about them. Also, $80 is just too much, but I sort of get that beats has multiple cases and positions them differently based on price (The Otterbox model of more rugged=more expensive.

I agree, it’s a beefy case on paper but feels surprisingly slim for a “rugged,” case.

Orange is just too loud for me but I get the appeal.

My Matter ended up with a couple scratches so they sent me a replacement that I haven’t touched. To me the weight feels comparable to the Süti alpine Orange silicon phoneback. It has a little weight to it, but it’s not heavy to me. The only thing I do not like is that the bottom of the case can move. I do not use cases, so this perfect for me. It doesn’t add any extra weight to the phone and the back still has some protection. I use clear stickers to cover the plateau.

Vanilla silicone dethroning TW!? That would have been a shocker!

So is the silicone different this year? 😂

As a person who do not like cases, the only cases besides the 2 phonebacks I have, that I will use away from home are the Caudabe Ember Paragon and Apple Guava Silicon. I used the Apple Silicon all last week and it wasn’t a case. It wasn’t a dust magnet, or heavy. Granted I didn’t wear jeans so I didn’t have any issues taking it out of my pockets. I felt that I had enough protection for my phone, and the color was bright and was a great contrast against the silver. It’s definitely a keeper for me.

Wow, it sure does move! I have the alpine orange silicone phoneback. It is solid as a rock! No movement whatsoever. It is heavier and thicker than it needs to be imo. That being said, I am going to hold off on the clear one whether it be from Suti or Matter.
