Totally agree. I downgraded from iPhone 14 Pro Max to iPhone 13 Pro partly over the dynamic island. The notch is okay as it's at one end of the screen. When watching videos it doesn't get in the way, especially if you put it on the right hand side (eyes more left to right and pay less attention the right). It's also that the Pro Max 14 version was a true brick (much clunkier and bulkier than previous 11 Pro Max which felt good in the hand). The 13 Pro was just fine (as was the 14 Pro). I find the 13 Pro screen less disturbing (PWM, refresh rate) than the 14 Pro Max (although theoretically they should be about the same).I will pay anything to eliminate the damned Dynamic Island. It’s a joke of an appearance which I can’t stand. Waiting patiently for any upgrade that eliminates ridiculous decisions taking away from the viewable area
Until there's a new iPhone without dynamic island, my 13 Pro will do just fine. Like you, I could live with a tiny cutout, but in that case, I'd far rather have the pinhole at the top edge of the screen, at least half of it in the bevel. A pinhole close to the middle of the display (like dynamic island) would be a no go.
