If the slim were exist, why is the Pro Max one even a thing? Just get rid of it.

I don’t understand Apple’s thinking.

The pricing feels like canary trap info to find the leaker. It makes no sense to position a non-Pro chip, 8GB RAM, dual rear cameras, aluminum, and a smaller display as something more expensive than Pro Max.

Even if Slim has an under display camera and Face ID, nobody is paying $1,299 for that.
Nobody is paying $ 1,299 for that? You’ve never been to Europe I guess. We have been paying years that amount for the pro models. Can’t imagine an even more expensive iPhone will sell well over here. Slim Corresponds to your wallet I guess 😅

Apple should make a YouTube type of service for creators, and offer a bundle for AppleTV+, the YouTube service, and Apple Music for a reasonable price. I was hoping YouTube would keep their own subscription service but surprisingly they backed out.
Too late for that. Apple is good at disrupting the market but has never been very good in competition. They enter a market… collect the money and when the well is about to dry… they leave the market.

Only problem is who would replace him?

I'm not really sure he does anything better than a whole cadre of bean counters who could fill that spot
(sort of impossible to know really)

Any change involves risk, but it also short circuits any ability to have an upgrade in that position if no changes ever happen.

This has been a pretty long run for him honestly
Some fresh ideology and energy would be good

120hz is literally the only reason why people buy Pros, so this would hit sales pretty hard if they bring it down to regular model

iPhone 8 Plus - $799
iPhone X - $999

Technically, the X had a smaller display area due to the change in aspect ratio. But everyone overlooked that because the iPhone X was a clear leap ahead of the 8 Plus.

Unless Apple reinvents the iPhone again with 17 Slim, it'll be just another iPhone.

It'll either not actually cost more than the Pro, not have inferior specs, or there will be a bigger differentiator than it just being slimmer. These rumors don't really add up. It would be too awkward of a sell to go "it's slimmer. now give us an extra $500".

Sounds good ... but will the "face" of the phone have that weird mutated "Ozempic face" look to it?
🥴
"we've worked really hard to bring you the best of the best. through this partnership, advances in technology, and breakthroughs in design, we've developed a new form factor we call gauntTECH. the tapering towards the bottom of the phone allows for a more ergonomic hand hold and better heat distribution for the iphone ozempic internals."

Doesn’t make sense to name it „slim“ when it’s intended to be on top of the Pro‘s.

Key details about the overall specifications of the iPhone 17 lineup have been shared by the leaker known as "Ice Universe," clarifying several important aspects of next year's devices.

iPhone-17-Plus-Feature.jpg

Reports in recent months have converged in agreement that Apple will discontinue the "Plus" iPhone model in 2025 while introducing an all-new iPhone 17 "Slim" model as an even more high-end option sitting above the iPhone 17 Pro Max in the lineup. The latest information from Ice Universe, shared yesterday on Weibo, corroborates this and claims that the alleged display sizes and price points will be as follows:

  • iPhone 17: 6.27-inch LTPO display ($799)
  • iPhone 17 Pro: 6.27-inch LTPO display ($1,099)
  • iPhone 17 Pro Max: 6.86-inch LTPO display ($1,199)
  • iPhone 17 "Slim": 6.65-inch LTPO display ($1,299)

Notably, all four iPhone 17 models will apparently feature LTPO displays for the first time, enabling ProMotion for a variable refresh rate up to 120Hz. To date, ProMotion displays have been exclusive to Apple's "Pro" devices, so the iPhone 17 may be the first time that the technology expands to a lower-cost device.

The iPhone 17 "Slim" is said to become the new iPhone flagship with a price tag of approximately $1,299, making it the most expensive iPhone model to date. It will allegedly feature a 6.65-inch display, placing it between the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max in size.

The iPhone 17 Pro models will purportedly feature 12GB of memory, a triple 48-megapixel rear camera system, and an A19 Pro chip fabricated with TSMC's N3P process, whereas the standard model will feature a separate A19 chip. This contrasts with the iPhone 16 lineup, which is expected to feature the same A18 chip across the board.

The post also suggests that the iPhone 17 "Slim" will feature an A19 chip, a dual dear camera system, an aluminum chassis, and 8GB of memory, but it is not clear if this is accurate. It is possible that this information has simply been assumed based on its replacement of the "Plus" model and it seems potentially strange for the new high-end model to have inferior specifications to the Pro models. The iPhone 17 lineup is expected to be introduced in September 2025.

This doesn’t make sense they should of called it “Ultra” not “Slim” it sounds like it’s worse than the Pro and Pro Max.

Just merge 'em all and get it over with Apple

I'm shocked (and relieved) they didn't adopt the Air term.

Anyway, what a weird rumor/potential lineup: iPhone (entry-level, got it), iPhone Pro (same screen size as iPhone with better hardware), iPhone Slim (slightly larger screen than the iPhone & iPhone Pro, slightly smaller screen than iPhone Pro Max, thinner, with less capable hardware), and iPhone Pro Max (slightly larger screen and thickness as Slim, with better hardware).

Are customers asking for a phone that slots in between iPhone Pro and iPhone Pro Max? If anything, I feel I hear much more asking for the mini to return. Even a Pro-level mini. Again, bizarre lineup - if it turns out to be true.

How can it be "Ultra" if it has less RAM, processing power, camera, and smaller display than Pro Max? It even uses aluminum instead of titanium.
