That mock-up is pretty ugly, thought I'd have an amateur crack at some options, the first replicating what has been described, the second being a slight variation, the third being a bigger departure and option 4 being a cross between 3 and the current design.

well done - Apple usually provides a positive surprise with the final product

2 looks nice but it looks pretty Google Pixel like.
3rd one is also cool, nice reference to older iPhones.

This is clear - still with bike frames titanium beats aluminum as the reduced thickness of the tubes compensates for the higher density, while having better stiffness and resilience.
Steel tubes can be made even thinner but not enough to counter the additional density.
While steel and titanium frames (for bikes) have avid supporters - nobody likes aluminum frames.
What about carbon fiber or carbon composite? Isn’t that still a player in high end bike frames?

Assuming the other person isn’t doing any of that silliness it doesn’t seem like it’s making any difference. 87% and “almost 90” whatever that means is the same thing.
Assuming.

I mostly do this "silliness" such as low power mode to extend the daily life of the iphone not overall battery lifetime, and I prefer wired charging because its faster.

I'd be very surprised if Apple drops landscape mode support for spatial video, in favor of bringing it only to portrait mode.

Don't the "reliable" rumors about the iPhone 17 suggest that it will have only one rear camera lens, somewhere near the center top of the back? If so, why all these hypothetical renders with two or more?

These renders are for the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The one rear camera near the top center is for the new iPhone 17 Air, that is apparently replacing the iPhone Plus.

You're right. I've been bouncing back and forth so much between the articles about the "iPhone 17 Air" and the rest of the upcoming iPhone 17 models, reading the new comments, that I got them confused.

While the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are not expected to launch for 10 more months, there are already plenty of rumors about the devices.

An imaginative iPhone 17 Pro concept based on rumors

Below, we recap key changes rumored for the iPhone 17 Pro models so far:

  • Aluminum frame: iPhone 17 Pro models are rumored to have an aluminum frame, whereas the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro models have a titanium frame, and the iPhone X through iPhone 14 Pro have a stainless steel frame. The back of the devices will supposedly have a new "part-aluminum, part-glass" design.
  • Rectangular camera bump: On a related note, the devices are expected to have a "larger rectangular camera bump" made of aluminum.
  • A19 Pro chip: iPhone 17 Pro models are expected to use Apple's next-generation A19 Pro chip, which will reportedly be manufactured with TSMC's newer third-generation 3nm process. Like usual, expect modest year-over-year performance gains and power efficiency improvements compared to the current iPhones.
  • Apple-designed Wi-Fi 7 chip: At least one iPhone 17 model is rumored to get a Wi-Fi 7 chip designed by Apple rather than Broadcom.
  • 24-megapixel front camera: All four iPhone 17 models are said to feature an upgraded 24-megapixel front-facing camera, whereas all iPhone 16 models are equipped with a 12-megapixel front-facing camera.
  • 48-megapixel rear Telephoto camera: An upgraded 48-megapixel Telephoto camera is rumored for the iPhone 17 Pro models, up from the 12-megapixel Telephoto camera on iPhone 16 Pro models.
  • 12GB of RAM: An increased 12GB of RAM was initially rumored exclusively for the iPhone 17 Pro Max, but later the iPhone 17 Pro as well. This upgrade should help to improve the performance of Apple Intelligence and multitasking. All four iPhone 16 models have 8GB of RAM.
  • A smaller Dynamic Island for iPhone 17 Pro Max: A change rumored exclusively for the iPhone 17 Pro Max is a "much narrowed Dynamic Island," as a result of Apple adopting a "metalens" for the Face ID system.

I have never been less interested. I'm not upgrading my 13 Pro until we get a flip phone. We need something new, this is getting crazy. Same crap every single time. A thinner phone with a rectangle camera bump instead of a square ain't gonna do it.

If the quality and the bells and whistles aren’t there……why am I buying it ???????
I’ll just send Apple a donation

definitely for bikes - arguably the best material: stiff and lightweight.
Titanium has the best longevity and the most comfortable ride experience.
Steel allows the thinnest tubes and elegant 80'ies like frame designs.

Unfortunately Apple is not using carbon - as far as I know only IBM did some Thinkpads in Carbon, when it was still building laptops.

When are we gonna get a 10x telephoto lens like Galaxy had had for ages now? Or a stylus? Or a screen that looks good outdoors? Innovation seems to have stopped at Apple awhile ago now.
likely never.

10x optical isn't really needed anymore. what others are doing like duel pericope and 200mp 1/1.4 inch sensors is the way to go

Don't know how I feel about the design.
One one hand I appreciate a more symmetric design, on the other I don't think these design look especially good.

Hmmm. I'm not sure I'd find such a notification helpful. When I get the call in the first place I have an audible (or vibrate) notification. If I missed that (noisy place) then I would also miss any audible reminders of the call until somewhere quiet. When I did go somewhere quiet I would likely look at my phone if just for a second to see if there were ANY notifications and would see the missed call.
No. If you're in the shower, for example, you'll miss the call. Don't even know what you're on about with "When I get the call in the first place I have an audible (or vibrate) notification," because... no shìt; that's the phone ringing, which you missed.

When you get out of the shower, or back from the laundry room, or whatever... you compulsively run to look at your phone like a pathetic stooge? When the phone is a Unix computer that should be telling YOU that you missed a call? Which is something that 1990s cell phones or 1980s answering machines could tell you?

Grow a nut and demand better.

Couple of options
1. Realise that the vast majority of notifications are not urgent and time critical and chill out. You certainly have time for a shower and a coffee. I've turned off almost all notifications for social media and limited my email notifications, so it's a conscious effort to check them at a time that suits ME, and not be a slave to my phone.
2. Use a smart watch and it will tell you if you missed any calls or notifications.

I certainly wouldn't want a persistent notification of a missed call or message. It could be that I deliberately ignored it because I'm otherwise engaged, or simply not in the mood to deal with that issue/person. A constant beeping or flashing would be REALLY annoying, and feed into the excessive sense of urgency that pervades the world today.
