Features seem OK, but that is one ugly mock up.
Somehow even uglier than the back of the Pixel 9 Pro.
I'd suggest much cleaner to have the bump extend the full width of the phone and reach the very top, and with black glass covering the bump and with the metal frame wrapping around the sides and top of the bump a lá my very quick shoddy mock up below.

I wonder if these camera positions would still work for the 3d video feature? I thought the cameras would have to be left/right to one another when holding the phone in landscape orientation.

I don’t think this is the new phone design. Most serious video shooters prefer landscape mode, which means spatial video won’t be possible because of the camera placement.

The front camera is overdue for an update. I think it's the same found in the iPhone X and 16 Pro. If not, well the quality's disgusting today.

Pixel 10 ain't out, but worth mentioning that the back of the Pixel 9 is significantly better in person and actually added a functional ridge for your finger to sit in when holding in portrait.

Meanwhile I put my iPhone 16 on a flat surface and it rocks away like Charlie Sheen in a sugar factory.

Main difference is apples design will have an enormous outmoded notch that instantly makes their phone look old in the store. Everyone else has a small hole punch.
It's crazy how far behind they are, just because they refuse to admit that FaceID isn't actually a selling point for 99% of users.

Every Android device for years now has had super secure and far quicker fingerprint sensors, and many like the Pixel series now have secure face unlock for convenience.

Could be worse though, the notch on the MacBooks is the reason I'll never own one.

When are we gonna get a 10x telephoto lens like Galaxy had had for ages now? Or a stylus? Or a screen that looks good outdoors? Innovation seems to have stopped at Apple awhile ago now.
If your iPhone doesn't have a screen that looks good outdoors, maybe you should a. get a new iPhone or b. don't use a third party screen? My 11 Pro had a good screen outdoors, the 15 Pro is plenty bright for every scenario, even indoor studio lighting, has a high refresh rate and isn't curved.
I won't argue about the rest, using a stylus is a personal preference and yes, a better optical zoom would be nice. But to request these things and then talk about missing innovation is quite rich...

Great mockup, reminiscent of the iPhone 5. I really love that design and idea. However, the leak says that the rear is glass (for wireless charging) and the aluminum cover would be on the top of the rear, near the cameras.

Perhaps not clear in my mock ups, but the idea is that below the black glass covering the cameras, it would be textured glass similar to the backs of the current iPhone Pros.

The reason I prefer the black glass surrounding the cameras is so that the cameras themselves are more discreet rather than a very conspicuous collection of holes awkwardly positioned in a row.

I love my 15” MacBook Air, I think it’s the best laptop ever made - but the stupid notch is ridiculous. It has no reason for being. Dell can fit a webcam in a slim bezel, why can’t Apple? Lazy engineering.

They need to get rid of these notches and Dynamic Islands and all this lazy engineering ASAP.

Apple is so far behind that their customers think they are buyin

While the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are not expected to launch for 10 more months, there are already plenty of rumors about the devices.

An imaginative iPhone 17 Pro concept based on rumors

Below, we recap key changes rumored for the iPhone 17 Pro models so far:

  • Aluminum frame: iPhone 17 Pro models are rumored to have an aluminum frame, whereas the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro models have a titanium frame, and the iPhone X through iPhone 14 Pro have a stainless steel frame. The back of the devices will supposedly have a new "part-aluminum, part-glass" design.
  • Rectangular camera bump: On a related note, the devices are expected to have a "larger rectangular camera bump" made of aluminum.
  • A19 Pro chip: iPhone 17 Pro models are expected to use Apple's next-generation A19 Pro chip, which will reportedly be manufactured with TSMC's newer third-generation 3nm process. Like usual, expect modest year-over-year performance gains and power efficiency improvements compared to the current iPhones.
  • Apple-designed Wi-Fi 7 chip: At least one iPhone 17 model is rumored to get a Wi-Fi 7 chip designed by Apple rather than Broadcom.
  • 24-megapixel front camera: All four iPhone 17 models are said to feature an upgraded 24-megapixel front-facing camera, whereas all iPhone 16 models are equipped with a 12-megapixel front-facing camera.
  • 48-megapixel rear Telephoto camera: An upgraded 48-megapixel Telephoto camera is rumored for the iPhone 17 Pro models, up from the 12-megapixel Telephoto camera on iPhone 16 Pro models.
  • 12GB of RAM: An increased 12GB of RAM was initially rumored exclusively for the iPhone 17 Pro Max, but later the iPhone 17 Pro as well. This upgrade should help to improve the performance of Apple Intelligence and multitasking. All four iPhone 16 models have 8GB of RAM.
  • A smaller Dynamic Island for iPhone 17 Pro Max: A change rumored exclusively for the iPhone 17 Pro Max is a "much narrowed Dynamic Island," as a result of Apple adopting a "metalens" for the Face ID system.

That's a popular view from those who look at Apple with disdain, but I don't agree.
Which is the better phone is a question on your priorities and the functionality you require.

I don't need a stylus and I would almost certainly lose it. While the 3x zoom on my iPhone 14 Pro isn't quite as much zoom as I'd like, I definitely have no need for 10x and the 5x of the latest iPhone 16 Pro is plenty when I eventually get around to upgrading.

I like the security and biometrics on my iPhone, the performance is excellent and it interacts seamlessly with my work and home computers, my Apple TV, my AirPods, etc... I've always preferred Apple Music over Spotify. It works better with my iPad Pro than an Android device would.

The iPhone meets my priorities better than the alternatives making it the best phone for me and worth the, admittedly annoying, Apple tax.

But those are my priorities. If your priorities make an Android phone a better choice, then Android is better for you.

The iPhone has been behind in camera tech for years now, no matter how big they make the cameras.
The iPhone will always be behind because of dimension limitations.
But they HAVE to make them bigger to have better cameras. If they could make them as big as DSLRs we'd have comparable cameras.

The iPhone 15 and 16 Pro and Pro Max have frames made of titanium. The "lesser" models in each series are aluminum and its variant, aluminium, which has an extra ion.
no doubt about that - just wondering, why Apple cannot make a Ti frame lighter than Al

What exactly are they supposed to do?
Good question. I think Biggest inovation will be in software recently. Not even AI but ability to script apps. Something like AppleScript for iOS. It will be connected to AI of course so you will be able to ask phone for very complex tasks and do complex automations or AI will do those automations for you. We will see how it will materialize.
My only desire os SW side is probably getting high quality human like voices in both genders in all languages. And they availability all features in more languages/regions. And smarter Siri will be welcomed that will be available in my language or be able to understand my english well 😆

On HW side it is more difficult I think. I do not want to be Apple apologist but when they design new HW they have to consider:
  • will it be up to our customers expectaions, means especially those rich or demanding on quality?
  • can we integrate it on SW side up to expectations?
  • is there any producer that can produce it up to our expectations in masses and acceptable price and terms?
At a minimum they could copy what other phone makers do: foldable phones, more zoom, pens... They are loosing market share in China because other phone makers are innovating. Everything they have come up with in recent years have been copies of other phone makers: periscope lens, high pixel density cameras. Real innovation would be to think outside the box, which Apple did with the original iPhone, come up with things we didn't imagine.
I do not think current status of zoom lenses and foldable screens is up to Apple expectaion so they wait and test.
Do not expect stylus.

I think rurmored slim iPhone is Apples way out of need for mass production every new technology. Slim version will be testing new technologies that they can produce in much smaller quantities so bring them much faster to the market.
I would personally invite some better battery technology, with higher density, safe to charge fast.

What is your HW new feature desire?
