Once a case is installed on the iPhone 17 Pro line, the two tone could be hidden and probably only the plateau color is seen. On my iPhone 16 Pro Max, only the camera square color is visible. So not to worry if the iPhone color is not what you hoped it would be.
I agree which is why I never understand the hysteria over colors. 95% of the people just use a case.

I always get one of Apple‘s cases like the silicone or possibly even the new tech woven that’s coming out. One of the reasons I get apple cases is because they’re easier to slip the phone out and put it back in. And because it’s easy to take out, I do take it out to clean it with a microfiber cloth and to admire it and sometimes it’s just completely out of the case when I’m at home. So yeah, there’s a little bit of hysteria with the colors.

the dishonesty of this company increases exponentially every year. 8x optical zoom. but it isn't.
My question is this, if the 8X has “optical quality” what does it matter? My opinion is that it is splitting hairs. An analogy would be a woman getting breast augmentation. It’s not real, but the visuals are just as appealing.

Nice video. Love the new Pro Max and the beautiful bright orange color. Happy that Apple has finally offered a bright finish for a 'Pro' device. Wish Apple gives one color that is bright for the iPad Pro too. Planning on getting the 17 Pro Max in orange.

Would have liked if the optical zoom remained at 5x and then offered a 10x crop zoom. Don't think that is going to change anytime now. Maybe in the future Apple might add another zoom lens.

I’m speaking out of ignorance. But wasn’t the only titanium part of the 15&16 pro phones, the band? And the insides were reinforced with aluminum? And the rest was glass? If indeed, it was just the band then it really isn’t a significant downgrade.
You're right, from what I've been looking into. Apparently JerryRigEverything cut through the frame of a 15 or 16 Pro, and found that the titanium part is just a band about 1mm thick bonded around the perimeter of the aluminum frame. That was enough to add significant strength and scratch resistance to that part of the frame, but we'll see how Apple might have still achieved enough strength (and maybe even some scratch resistance) for the 17 Pros while doing away with the titanium band.

Not including the titanium band allows the perimeter of the iPhone to dissipate internal heat much better, since aluminum has about an order of magnitude better heat dissipation than titanium. That might result in fewer instances of speed throttling and display dimming when the iPhone is being used for heavier tasks, especially when being used in hot environments, especially under direct sunlight. On the other hand, since titanium transfers heat poorly, it might actually act as an insulator when the 15 and 16 Pros are in direct sunlight or even just in hot ambient temperatures in the shade. I'm assuming (for whatever that's worth) that Apple has tested whether the internals get hotter with or without a titanium band, and they've made their choice accordingly. We'll know once the 17 Pros get into people's hands and they start doing temperature tests.

I’m just not sure. I may just muddle through with my 13 Pro Max until next year. I’ll wait and see what the reviews say.

Agreed. I am on the 15 Pro and was down for the 17 Pro but those fugly colors combined with nothing other than a better camera and spec improvements make me think it might be wise to hold off.

If your into pro level photography or video then get it, but outside of that, why upgrade? Are there any up and coming cool Apple Intelligence features like a working Siri that will require the new processor?

What can this phone do that my 15 Pro can’t not involving the cameras? Battery life and 256 GB of space? That’s important to me but is it worth dropping $1,200?

I don’t think so, especially if the color choices are regulated to fugly colors from a 1970’s era porn flick. I’m sure Debbie, when she was done doing Dallas, would have approved. I, on the other hand, don’t consider vomit orange and undesirable dark blue as “colorful” choices.

If you want colorful, look at the color choices on the 17 or 17 Air. Those are colorful choices. These are a two fugly colors and boring old silver with no black because those of us with older models made of quality metal instead of aluminum would take one look at the black option and laugh.

At least you can still get a titanium body with the 17 Air, but if you want to take spatial videos or get good battery life without taking a huge step back in the camera department, the 17 Air isn’t an option.

At this point, minus the cameras, the regular old iPhone 17 with a black option and 256 GB of storage is looking like the best of three compromised options this year to me. The Max is a no go. It’s too big for me to handle comfortably with one hand.

Color matters when you have to look at a device all the time. Bad 70’s era porn colors won’t do.

Continue to hold my Titanium iPhone 15 Pro Max 512 GB for another two years. Meanwhile, having popcorn enjoying the iPhone 11 with Plateau and cutout as iPhone 17!

that silver/white thing is an abomination. blue is tolerable. orange is fine because it’s something new, but it certainly isn’t pretty. ugliest pro lineup ever.

i’m sure they’re excellent phones.
I totally agree, why the two toned on the silver? silver is already boring but like this even worst . The blue looks almost black and the orange shouts 'look I have the latest iphone'

Im not sure if this has made its way around the English side of the internet but

Now I’m starting to get around the orange.

I am not upgrading this year and will sit tight with my 16 Pro. I can't make sense to replace a perfectly adequate iPhone and will probably be a couple years before I consider upgrading. As of right now my 16 Pro still has 100% battery health so it is sit tight for now. Now my AirPods Pro 2 well that is what I am really interested in as the batteries in those is somewhat concerning as they only last about three hours in noise canceling
I’m upgrading to the 17 pro max from the 16 pro max. It then again, I upgrade every year. But looking forward to the 17 pro max not overheating like my 16 pro max and also longer battery life, plus the better camera lens front and back.

Never use a case so phone design and colour is important.

You forgot to mention that, when you subscribe to your channel, you also get 10 times a day a show from the comedian Mark Gurmann with his wrong predictions show!

Just for grins, I used Apple's comparison page for my iPhone 16 Pro Max and the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The number of differences do not suddenly make my existing iPhone obsolete so $2,000 stays in my pocket.

I really don't want to let go of my 13 mini; it's the perfect size iPhone for me. But it's getting on in years and it's becoming obvious that Apple is never going to release another small phone. The foldable might be an alternative, but I refuse to spend $2000 on a phone (especially one that probably will have compromises similar to the Air). So when the new iPhones are on display, I'll pay a visit to the Apple Store and look them over in person.

With all due respect. This hands-on (and most of them) look like paid ads. I don’t know why anyone would think this is the biggest update when literally the only new features are a couple of camera gimmicks, that previous iPhones could do already with third party apps, and there is no way that this phones look more premium than titanium iPhones….. hate that everyone seems so scared of losing access to apple products and conferences that everybody just praises. All the “early looks” are worthless, IMO
I think you really need to go look at this device’s specs. It’s the biggest jump since the iPhone 13 Pros. It will be a major update for a lot of people.
Which iPhone has Apple released to date looks uglier than the iphone 17 pro?
I love the new design. You are “objectively” wrong.

Damn, I do not have any overheating issues with my 16 Pro Max, but I would upgrade if I did.

I was once a yearly upgrader too with T-Mobile’s Jump! plan, but I’ll hold onto the 16 PM for another year and see what Apple’s 2nm A20 brings next year, hopefully with 16GB of RAM and even better battery life with a 144hz refresh screen and a much smaller Dynamic Island.

The iPhone Air would be a huge upgrade for you in every meaningful way and would offer zero compromise, so not sure what you mean by that.

However, I would wait yet another year if you have waited this long already. The iPhone 13 is still capable of taking you another year and the A20 might be worth the wait if you hold onto your phones that long.
