I haven't noticed this issue so far but I will try to get annoyed by it and then obsess over it. Thanks for the heads up.

Same on my previous 14 pro and on the 17 pro. Not just a 17 issue. Can hear the noise from speaker area and camera cutout/plateau

Not sure what devices had ultra charging. Maybe usbc and later?
But, my 14 pro made the same noises.
We pulled out a iPhone 14 Pro unit and it does not have it. The static noise coming out of the 17 is unheard of.

Was on our other 14 pro max as well. Not crazy as loud as video but not sure how that recorded or amplified. Tried to record with other devices but really couldn’t capture. 14 pro and max did it from bottom and from camera cutout. When camera app open not plugged in. 17 pro same.

No problems here at all. Blue 17 Pro Max.

Wonder if people with phones of all colors are experiencing this equally.

Finally. Justice!

Every. Unit. Has. It.

The noise levels depending on the charging state, charging level, at the moment workload and whether it is wireless or wired.

We have ordered 20 units and all had it. It is emitted from the bottom speaker.

People who say they do not have it, might be in optimal circumstances or have bad hearing.

Because most media do not dare to call out Apple for this. Apple has been responding to complaints with 'its normal'.

None of the previous iPhones made these noises, not the competition.

Apple promotes this device as a pro video recording device. However if you connect the camera to a powerbank and start filming, the white noises is recorded within videos. Making all videos USELESS.

@MacRumors now write about the micro scratches and dents that come with ALL Macbook Pro units.
thats what i would usually say but mine really doesnt do it 17 pm since day 1 all good

I don’t experience this with my 17 pro max 512 gb in blue, not that the color or memory capacity matters…lol. I have really really good hearing.

I had never heard of this issue until this article and listened carefully to my 17 Pro Max when I plugged it in.

It does, indeed, make weird static noises from the speaker after being plugged in... They are not constant, but they are definitely there. I'll have to check my husband's phone tonight.

Had this since launch too, haven’t swapped unit as I have apple care and all I’ve seen who have only end up having it on the replacement

I have this problem too - 17 pro max.
There are few steps you need to take before you can hear it:

- Have the phone charged above 80%
- Use wired charger (I use official apple)
- Play music (via apple music for example) then pause the music
- Put the bottom speaker (it's now on left side) close to your ear
- You will hear it

Compared with multiple 17 pro and max around me that colleagues own and everyone got it.
It does not happen when charging wirelessly in my case, only wired and above 80%
I just followed your steps and was finally able to reproduce it on my iPhone 17 Pro. Before it got to 80% I didn’t have any issues, and before I played any sound I didn’t have any issues. So to me, it’s not a shielding issue, so it may just be software related.

Charge with cable not magnetic charger. iPhone gets warm Charing with magnetic attachment and vapour chamber seems to run. I’ve never heard it again using cable only.

What was the grave injustice though?

Thankfully no issues so far on either my wife's or my launch day devices. I'm on iOS beta and my wife is on retail.

Wouldn’t they have noticed it during testing if the vapor chamber or some other component was causing the sound during charging? Unless they sourced components from two or three sources and they didn’t test iPhones with a component from a particular supplier?
