I preordered the Deep Blue. Coming from a Deep Purple 14 Pro, I don’t love this year’s Pro colours. I’d like a Rose Gold or a rich burgundy 👍🏻 hate the orange, too bright for me. Silver is bland and basically white. Deep Blue looks, in some lighting, almost slate grey. It’s not my favourite iPhone colour ever but it’s the best for me of the three.
Agree, same reasons.

Orange is a novelty, and for a 'Pro' phone doesn't look professional.
Silver is a safe option but as you say a little bland.
Deep Blue, still a little boring but the closest to a "dark" phone and I agree in certain lights/angles it looks like Midnight or Slate.

Worst colour lineup for the Pro since the Pro began.

space gray or black... they could have done it yesterday, but they purposely did not do it.
One doesn't have to be a genius to expect a JETBLACK ( LIKE THE IPHONE7) to be released in 6 months. That is my prediction and I want the credits once it happens.

I went with the Deep Blue as well, coming from a 14 Pro Max in Purple (I love this color). I would have liked a Gold color too. Couldn't talk myself into liking the orange as much as I tried to. Considered the silver but it's plain. Hoping Deep Blue is as nice as the Deep Purple in person.

I also have been going without cases since the 4S back in 2011. I take the same approach that @eoblaed listed above. I’m currently rocking a 12 Pro that looks pristine! Planning to finally upgrade this year to a 17 Pro.
I’m tempted to try using a iPhone without a case permanently attached. As I said, I always sew a sleeve for the phone+case combo, anyways, so when I am not using the phone, it goes in the sleeve. One thing that is possibly problematic for me is my ring. I only have one but given that I do wear it, it seems likely it would scratch the back of the phone when I handle it. Hmm….

All the talk of colours when the majority of you will put on a case…

Orange is interesting but as with silver and other light colours I don’t like the way the bezels ”interacts” with the display as I always goes without a case.

That’s me, and also why I always choose the darkest colour. A bit boring? Maybe.

Oh heck we will give you credits right now. ;) Irrespective of whatever Apple does about colors 6 months from now.

I would think it depends on how people buy the existing colors (which Apple will do thorough market research on). E.g. I would prefer black, but I upgrade my iPhones mostly based on camera competence, not based on color. So I will test the new iPhone Pros in-store and buy one if the cameras prove sufficiently competent as is likely. I will choose the least offensive color to me 9/25; I would not wait 6 months for black even if I knew it was coming.

My guess is that [unlike with the non-Pro models] most iPhone Pro upgraders are not heavily influenced to buy or not buy based on the color choices.

Agreed. Back when iPhones were relatively fragile I routinely wore out cases less than every six months. Today with iPhones uber-tough I would not even dream of obfuscating an elegant, uber-tough iPhone with a case except to carry one in a kayak or whatever.

iPhone colors often present very differently in-hand than they do on screen. I look forward to being able to test the new iPhones (cameras in particular) and view the actual colors next Friday.

I am tempted to so do, as well. I work from home, and tend to be a homebody in general. So, I’m not toting my phone around much. I did buy a silicone case in terra cotta as well an orange crossbody strap. Most of my clothes don’t have pockets, and I don’t like carrying a pocketbook when shopping if I don’t have to. I usually just attach a MagSafe wallet to the phone and carry that around. It will be nice to not have to actually hold the phone/wallet in my hand, though.

Anyway, I’m thinking of just putting the case/strap on when I go out, but enjoying the phone without it while I’m at home. I’m also considering going without a screen protector for the first time. My concern there wouldn’t be screen cracking, but scratching. It sounds like modern screens don’t scratch easily, though, so maybe I don’t need one.

If I had to pick up an iPhone 17, I would choose the sage green. Undoubtedly. If past year’s teal was gorgeous, this year’s shade of green is beautiful.

If I had to pick a 17 Pro, even tho the orange looks quite good, I think I’d probably take the deep blue one.

I don't really see what the problem is. Get a dark blue case which will then show the orange bits such as the small edge around the screen as an orange highlight. The camera island at the back will look like a highlight. It may even look quite classy.

Besides my Product Red iPhone 11, I have predominantly rolled with the black version until the last couple years, in which I still went with the Blue on the 15 Pro Max (which might as well been black) and Natural Titanium on my 16 Pro Max last year. I am thrilled to have a bold choice for my Pro this year and I rolled with the Cosmic Orange. Will I get tired of it? Maybe, but it'll at least be fun for a while.

I probably would not have upgraded to the 14 Pro I have now if not for the deep purple color. I still love that color, but I always use a case, and the purple color does somewhat limit case choices, IMO. So I planned to get a neutral color when upgrading to a 17 Pro, and was hoping for something like a space gray, or natural titanium. Orange is obviously not neutral (and not a color I particularly care for). I debated between the blue and silver, ended up picking the silver - it has been quite a long time since I’ve had a light/white phone. I have a purple TW case coming, but I’m also looking for a slim leather cases, not sure what color but any color should be fine. This is the first time I haven’t wanted a clear case to show off the phone - I don’t find the white rectangle on the back attractive.

Contrary to many, I love Orange iPhone cases and Orange watch bands so this time, after many years getting my iPhones in black, I decided to go with the 17 Pro Max Orange. As for the case, black of course. Either way, I have yearly iPhone upgrades from T-Mobile so if I get bored of the orange, I’ll get a black iPhone 18 Pro Max if Apple decides to bring the black back. Also, personally, the iPhone that I loved the most was my Red iPhone mini. I wish Apple makes a Red iPhone again.

I am also sure Black or dark space gray will be released in March together with other one other color. Although it is too late. I wish they would have released Black on October event.

Really happy to see a bright color option for the Pro model. Hope Apple will have at least one bright and fun color every year. Going to get a 17 Pro Max in Orange.

Great there’s a bit of variety in the line up. I almost went orange. My orange alpine loop is my most used strap on my awu but if I’m travelling or need something more restrained it gets switched out. This was my logic with going dark blue on the 17 pro - I can dress it up or down with a case switch if I want. Will be great to see the cosmic orange in real life though!

Also coming from a purple 14 PM but went with the orange. I’m super excited for it. The blue seemed to close to the purple for me. I wanted something different.

Is anyone else stuck between choosing Cosmic Orange and Deep Blue?
I’ve never had this much trouble picking a color when buying an iPhone before, but this time it feels so hard to decide between the two…

I did also. I went from 95% certain i was getting the orange to finally just ordering the blue. I am happy with my decision because apple seems to have a lot of products that look a certain way on the internet and look different in person. I didn’t want an orange that might have more of a copper tone. Blue is a safe bet.

Initially, I wanted the space (or whatever) black, but mostly because it would have matched (almost) my Mac Pro.

Then the orange started growing on me, especially the idea of a copper orange, as it was called in the rumors, for weeks. I was expecting some kind of rusty or darker tone.
I still like the "industrial" feel that they have created: even the promotional page, with its close detail of the camera plateau, seems to convey this idea of bulky, solid, rugged machine. However the cosmic (?) orange ended up brighter than I expected, although pleasantly two-toned. So I decided to go to the more unassuming blue.

But now I feel like I should have been bolder and chosen the coppersmic orange. Too late, I'm afraid.

that tells a lot more about the people of the boardroom rather than the owner of the orange phone.
Would you wear an orange suit to a job interview, a wedding or in a courtroom?

Nah. There are plenty of positives to orange, it's fun and quirky, it's pretty unique, it stands out, but let's stop pretending it's "professional" in any way.
