More seriously I agree. I run mine without a case unless I'm going out. But I'm going for blue because I go to places I don't want to attract attention to it.

Haha, no My phones remain essentially pristine. Hope you enjoy the blue ... it looks pretty classy.

Regarding the condition of my devices: due to micro scratches that can happen to phones that are in cases (bits of debris/dust/etc getting between the case and the phone), my wife's phone will often see some of that wear and tear after a year while my phone generally looks brand new. I follow a few rules (which, admittedly, is almost a lifestyle that many people are not, understandably, interested in):

• My front left pocket is dedicated for my phone. Only two things go in that pocket: my phone and my hand. Nothing else, ever, not even paper receipts.
• I never set my phone down on hard surfaces
• I don't drop my phone

That third bullet point isn't meant to be flippant. When I'm anywhere that could be a drop risk (e.g., on the tram at the airport, in an elevator with multiple people, etc) I consciously keep a secure grip on my phone. When putting my phone in my pocket or taking it out, I've become habituated to that also being an act I pay some attention to. The result is that I have not once unintentionally dropped my phone.

In fact, I would not be surprised if it turns out that people with cases have a greater tendency to drop their phones because there's a part of their brain that relaxes knowing that the phone has some degree of protection. The brain doesn't need to be as diligent about keeping the device safe, ergo, some droppage occurs.

I’d love to try that myself. How long do you keep your phone? I keep mine until it has to be upgraded. I’m on the 12 Pro and have had that for almost 5 years.

I upgrade annually (check my signature 🤓).

That said, of all those phones, the only ones I've ever damaged were the 3GS and the 12 Pro Max, and in neither situation would a case have helped.

The 3GS accidentally went into the laundry. Whoops!

The 12 Pro Max was in the pocket of a pair of shorts I didn't normally wear (so I wasn't familiar with the 'pocket dynamics') while I was up on the roof of my home at the highest point (essentially the top of a three story vaulted thing) when it fell out of the pocket (pocket wasn't quite deep enough). It started sliding immediately, picking up speed, shot off the edge of the roof like a sled and hit a boulder waaaay down there. That was a quick trip to the Apple Store, hah!

Yeah no need to rush. I do not think the Pro’s will be hard to get this year with Apple unexpectedly dropping the usual Space Black or Space Grey colors they usually have for the Pro Models. Customers have to get used to this new Loud orange 🍊 color. The Air I predict is going to sell like Hot Cakes 🥞 because it’s like the iPhone X and it looks like the Future. 📱

I ordered the Cosmic Orange at 3 minutes after the orders started. Right now the shipping date is September 25. It’s major life challenges like this that build character. 🤭

Worst colour choices I've seen in a while. 16 Pro felt Pro with sleek and subtle titanium finishes. Let's just hope we don't end up with a bright orange MBP next year.

I couldn’t justify the orange. I wanted to do it, I just think I’m gonna get tired of it within a week, and now I’ve got this coast guard bright phone for a year. And km forced to get rid of it whether I want the yearly upgrade or not.

I do have a case for my phone and I always sew a sleeve for that as well. When I trade my phone in 5 or more years later, Apple workers are always surprised at how pristine my phones are.

I go take care of them overall.

I also have been going without cases since the 4S back in 2011. I take the same approach that @eoblaed listed above. I’m currently rocking a 12 Pro that looks pristine! Planning to finally upgrade this year to a 17 Pro.

I think that deep blue is gorgeous. And Silver is a classic.

The orange is a bold color, and many, many people that were asking for an orange iPhone, wouldn’t have been happy with a brownish or darker orange. Even a copper color would have resembled yet another shade of gold… so I think it’s a good move that Apple chose this bright shade of orange this year. Don’t worry, they will probably go back to boring muted colors next year for the pro lineup.

Hopefully they bring product(RED) back next year.

Yeah Apple 🍎 wanted to do something bold this year with the Pro Lineup colors and Orange 🍊 is it! I suspect next year Apple 🍎 will go back to the usual Space Black next year if enough people complain about it which I definitely have. I always like doing Black on Black. Black phone and black case. 📱
