Yeah. Whenever some of my friends asked me to take night photos with their Samsung phones, I always looked at the results in slight envy just because of that alone. If the issue fixed with the 17 Pro, I could finally bring my iPhone instead of my camera to shoot low light video for small projects.
All they have to do is put a small bezel on it. The notch/pill is idiotic, Apple should never have released something that awful.
I haven't been actually happy with an iPhone since the 6s+. EVERYTHING since then is a compromised design.
Hmmm, I know I for one do find my 16 pro much better than the iPhone 6.
If they had a larger bezel on the top of the phone then yes that would eliminate the notch/island. But it would also shrink the display (or grow the overall phone). The advantage of the notch/island is that they can then have the standard status indicators (batter, cell bars, etc.) on the same line of things with the camera. Yes it's a tradeoff and each person will have there own preference on that tradeoff, but simply making the bezel large enough to fit the camera isn't objectively/universally better than how they have it now.
Better, or just faster?
The 6 had a smaller screen/larger bezel (for both cameras and home button). It had much poorer cameras. My phones have always been pretty safe in a case and I don't need a SIM card. I can now get emergency help if out of cell range (I'm often in fringe areas). Just saying a lot of these things are personal preference and for very very many the phones have gotten better even though not for everyone.
My 13 Pro is still so good. I know it's not the best anymore (by definition) but it's still great.
From what I’ve read online, 5x on the 16 Pro is not as impressive as you might have expected.
It's not. Honestly feel like 3x was a better experience and 5x was rushed to compete with android 100x phones.
This is why I only update about every three years or so. Each year is just incremental (not really a bad thing) but over enough years the improvements add up. Gee, I guess this just means I have to spend money on other things than just my phone every year.
Well they do have 3D "spatial" photos and videos. I suppose more zoom would be nice but otherwise I don't know what else people want than better quality (pixels, low light, etc.)
Not really, given how long it takes to design engineer and test each new iPhone model.
The photog makes the camera move. Which is one of the reasons I consider the new capture button a step toward improved UI.
