True, i hope Google Pixel Phones can catch up with apple and Samsung and get more market share in the US. It would be good to have a third quality phone manufacturer in the US. Pixel phones have the advantage over Apple and Samsung that you can install privacy focused OSs on them. I am eyeing with GrapheneOS. I hope Pixel 10 will be everything an iphone can be and more. Once people will open their eyes and leave apple due to lack of innovation, Apple’s products will have to be more innovative again.
You make a very good point & plus I think the software update is good that I think you get about 7 years now on pixel phones if you stay on the core os

When my dad had the pixel 6 he like it & the camera was always pretty good in some instances better than the iphone

What i like with with the pixel phones is that they already have certain features that i really want in a phone. You can run two apps in split screen. Pixel 9 pro comes with 8K video recording for zoom in in post. And android 16 will most likely add full external display support to give it desktop like features like the Dex feature on Samsung. I appreciate that level of innovation and wish iPhones had the same. But if they decide not to, then i will probably go with a pixel 10 pro and put GrapheneOS on it.

Apple as a company will not put all that rumored technology into the iPhone 17 pro max
Because then they will have nothing for the next models
They can always add more things. They haven’t because they didn’t feel the pressure. Now they know they need to compete or else they will be banished in a couple of years. The alarms are off, they got caught off guard and it’s not something they can fix because they just don’t have the leadership. Look at Musk, he got caught off guard but managed to make Grok in 15 days and catch up and even surpassed the competition in less than a year. Apple? Apple can have 5 more years for all I care and they still wouldn’t be able to catch up to ChatGPT of today.

That’s why they are going a different route, since they can’t compete they will integrate those LLM but then again you will be given all your info, just like you do with google right now

Apple as a company will not put all these rumored items into the iPhone 17 pro max
8k video
24MP front camera
48MP camera lens upgraded from 12mp
12gb of ram
Plus new design

They won’t do it because they need to hold things for next years model

Couldn’t disagree more with this sentiment. All smartphone makers are attempting to make it seem they got AI handled. None realky do. As an Apple customer that is not a consideration for purchase. And I feel many customers feel the same way. (Except some vocal minority here on MR)

I love the speculation. No one knows what Apple will or won’t include for the iPhone 17.

I had a perfectly fine iPhone 14 Pro but upgraded to have the AI because it is revolutionary. I use it every day for work and it helps greatly, it’s the new google really.

So yes, it is a selling point for me and I believe it will be for most people in a year or two.

I think to some it will be a selling point, but AI has to be more than parlor tricks on a smartphone, and I believe most people think like that. AI, imo, will be a commodity soon, the same way ML is today.

In a year we'll see what the landscape is and what smartphones can do what. I think it will be more of the same. Different features for different phones. Choose what you want.

The only hope that I think apple has is that it’s not something tangible, is just a service. People have a hard time valuing it because they can’t see it, and being a service apple can quickly do something half baked like they did with maps. I believe though it’s as revolutionary as the touch screen was and this is the beginning of the end.

If you're implying this is the beginning of the end for Apple, I say don't bet against Apple, but ymmv. If you look at trickle down in tech, yes it's revolutionary but there are already signs it's going be a common thing. But yeah, someone else has to do the heavy lifting. Same as applying for credit and getting an answer in milliseconds. Some else is doing some heavy lifting.

They don’t know what to do. They are completely clueless. We’ve seen this the past decade but it finally is very obvious to the point Cook might get fired rather sooner than later

Couldn’t be imo a more incorrect statement. But nothing is within the realm of possibility no matter how infinitesimal the odds.
