Does anyone have a link/video/resource that goes in great depth regarding battery life on each iPhone release?

I can do the math that 39 > 33 hours of video but I'm just curious how much practical difference it is considering I'm more likely to be emailing, messaging, making phone calls, and checking email than watching 39 hours of video content.

So they basically lied? I’ll admit, I don’t understand the camera stuff. I was all excited for 8x optical zoom. My 14PM is underpowered in the zoom area. I have friends who have latest Samsung phones that have a lot better zoom or at least they appear to.
It’s fairly common these days that cameras have a sensor with a lot of mega pixels. Cropping in 2025 dos not have to be as bad as cropping in 2005 (thinking of my canon 350d here).
The leica q series for example comes with 60 megapixels (q3) behind a non changeable 28mm lens and its build to crop on for the effect of other focal lengths. Of cause that’s a full frame sensor and it will always be better than the finger nail sized phone sensor, but still you get the idea. Same goes for the small lenses, bigger ones will always have the opertunety to limit distortions.
With that in mind and the pro chip in the iPhone air you can probably see the road Apple will go down. Less lenses, bigger sensor. Probably even a bigger single lense because why not. The iPhone air essentially is meant to be a pro.

My understanding is that the pro 17 will provide a 12 mega pixel image at 8x zoom/200mm. A 12 mega pixel image will print nicely at A4 with 300dpi. At 150dpi even up to 60cm x 90cm. That is more than most users will ever need.

Here is the power bank you will need for one of these monstrosities:

I guess I’ll keep my 16 Pro max

But the delayed Apple Intelligence that is available on the 17 pro later better available on my ****ing 16 Pro max timmy!
Count on that most likely not happening. 16 Pro Max was beta test phone. The real roll out will be with 17 Pro Max. Then again, Apple dragging their feet with AI. Maybe the 18 Pro Max will be the full release. 🤷🏼‍♂️

we will probably have to wait for real world feedback on that - but I'd say its probably safe to assume that if video playback is 20% more, other areas (like standby, screen on use etc) should be in the same ballpark

Who needs 2TB of memory in a mobile device?

Everything is in the cloud.

Was using 128GB until 2024 and upgraded to 256GB in 2024.

It's more than enough for me and I am a digital artist, designer, photographer, gamer, blogger, influencer, visionary, mountain guide and quality assurance manager.

The way cameras with fixed lenses work is they give the range that it's capable of covering.
I've always thought this was a con too- so commonly you might see a 3X lens and that may be 25-75 or maybe 20-60 they are both 3X range
If you have an objective then on 35mm film 50mm is what the eye would see as normal so 200mm would be 4X -magnification.
This is the same with binoculars- they tell you the magnification compared to what the eye sees
You have to relate that to the size of the sensor to make the calculation on the phone
The phone is 13mm at the ultra wide end and 100mm at the telephoto end so they call it an 8x lens.
From what I understand, that's about 4X magnification from what you'd see with the naked eye at the telephoto end

Yes they did lie. That being said the new sensor is larger and has more megapixels, so even if it is not optical, the digital 8x zoom should still give an image which in quality is equivalent or better than the 5x zoom iPhone 16 pro max.

Besides the screen size and the larger body allowing for a bigger battery, everything else is same. Good that the cameras on both Pro and Pro Max are the same. Don't think many will be opting for a 2TB model.

plus its not hard to offload your photos n vids yearly to a storage device, for those storing not on cloud wth wants to transfer that everytime you upgrade

During Apple’s presentation, they mentioned that iPhones with no SIM card tray have a slightly larger battery. Is the advertised battery rating the same for the phone with no physical SIM? Or maybe the difference is negligible at this point...

Not sure we know the battery specs yet for eSIM-only 17 base, Pro and Pro Max

iPhone 11 Pro
0.5x, 1x, 2x

iPhone 14 Pro
0.5, 1x, 3x

iPhone 16 Pro
0.5, 1x, 5x

iPhone 17 Pro
0.5, 1x, 4x

Optical quality is still digital zoom.
While technically true, it's hard to compare because the 16 Pro, like the 15 Pro, had a 5x lens that was 12MP? Which is what the 8x is offering on the 17 Pro. Personally, and I know opinions will vary, I would take 4x at 48MP that offers 8x at 12MP over just 5x at 12MP.

I don't think they are going to stop the 16 Pro Max getting all the AI features they promised at the September 2024 launch. 'Built for Apple Intelligence' was their marketing line.

I will return my iPhone under the Trade Descriptions Act is they fail to deliver lol.
