I wish the 18 Pro Max was getting the C2 mode here in the United States. I was hoping for improve cellular service because sometimes I don’t have no bars at all. Only the pro 18 is getting it.

The real question is whether any of these speed improvements make any difference in using the phone?

It will be interesting if an iPhone 18's speed is any better than a 17 or 16 when using things like Siri AI or other demanding tasks. It's nice to have a faster chip, but when the previous version is already "too fast", does it make it worth upgrading?

Does your SLR lens only have 4 stops? Mine have many, many more. Seems very limiting having only 4 stops in a lens.

Mine also has many more. And 90% of the time I only use about 3-4 of them...

f 1.48 seems pretty impressive, especially if it can stay sharp at full frame rather than just in a cropped photo.

I doubt... sensor is small.. On Keynote photography of night sky and sitting man wasn't sharp. Maybe reviews will check it.

Yeah, I’m disappointed. I wish that the US version had the C2 modem cellular service is not that great on the 17th Pro Max, and going back some few iPhones barely get any service bars.

Apart from manual lens aperture, unless it's simulated somehow, the other features, yes, they can be found in better camera apps than the native one.

I'm not sure about this one. Contrary to what I expected, the aperture didn't only become variable but also wider, which allows for 45% more light entering the camera at it's widest compared to before. And while the variable aperture might not make a huge difference for photography, it could really be a big change for video, allowing to use much more natural shutter speeds. Whichever way it's going to be, the showcased video capabilities and sample photos of the keynote surely all where extremely impressive. Let's see how much of that will show up in real world tests. It might make quite a big difference after all...

Yeah I see, maybe for video... But let's see really how good is f1.48 because sometimes on some lenses, it's not as sharp and can have some chromatic aberrations

Can you reference any studies or tests that compare the C2 and the Qualcomm chips ability to provide usable cellular service in low signal strength areas and where the C2 excels? In other words, where it's proven the C2 gives more bars side-by-side an iPhone with Qualcomm chip? Also, being on Verizon, I've clocked almost 1.5Gbps down on Verizon 5G UW...I wonder what the C2 can manage?

The 18 Pro is a decent upgrade from the 17 Pro and is a large upgrade from the 16 Pro or older phones.

I have a 16 pro. Much better battery and camera on the 18? I am half thinking of going for the Max. Have never had a max before.

I disagree, you clearly have never used a SLR.

Imagine needing to provide less light to a cellphone sized sensor that already needs tons of "computational photography" to make the images perceptually decent. There's your difference.

I was surprised by the 16 Pro to the 17 Pro. I rarely upgrade that soon (went from a 13 Pro to a 16 Pro), but I needed more storage on my phone and I could get the 17 Pro with a trade-in for less than as selling my 16 Pro and buying another 16 Pro with more storage.

The 17 Pro's battery lasts several hours longer than the 16 Pro with my mixed light to heavy usage. The 16 Pro was quite good so I really wasn't expecting the 17 Pro to be that big of an upgrade.

I've also been impressed with the 17 Pro's camera relative to the 16 Pro. It's noticeably better to me. I had a Pixel 10 for a while that I started using more for photos, but once I got the 17 Pro I stopped using the Pixel at all.

I've not gone to a Max either, but it would be a big upgrade in battery life.

Unfortunately, Apple is blind when it comes to trade-in values of iPhones with more storage. Apple gives $885 for an iPhone 17 Pro Max regardless of whether it has 256GB or 2TB (which cost almost $1000 more).

That's beyond unfair. And I would bet that if Apple resells my iPhone 17 Pro Max 2TB in their refurb store, they would not be pricing it like the 256GB model.

Fine with me, always buy phones with baseline storage and never had an issue.
