Why would they release a 17e when the 17 is in such high demand?
Because €300 is a big jump for not much difference.

Someone too cheap to buy the premium model should not get premium features, including a great camera and Dynamic Island. It's a corporate phone. Plenty of companies, including mine, only offer the 16e.
SE was the previously offered model. I still have my 2022 model until next year.
Cameras are what differentiates the cheap from premium models. No one gives a crap about the dynamic island.
Additionally, why do you care? How does a phone, that you don't own, having a feature affect you?

I use a 16e as my main phone and works just fine for me 😁👍🏻I actually know a few people that bought the 16e as their personal phone.

this guy gets itIf the 17e is unimpressive and still at the same price point, more potential buyers will opt for an iPhone 17 instead.
It's a win/win for Apple.
I wonder how many SE buyers actually appreciated either the smaller size, the home button, Touch ID, or the LCD screen. Apple dropped all that differentiation for the 16e. There’s still the differentiation of almost no camera bump and the notch, but that’s probably a smaller market, while they also hiked the price up.
It’s not a failure. They merely scaled back production. There will be an 18 Air next year.Given the failure of the air, is it too much to hope for a repackaged 14 or 15 plus chassis, as well?
Especially given that even cheap android phones have had big screens for the last few years.
Oh I’m someone who is in the market for the iPhone air 1.0. But what we have now is the the iPhone air mvp. But if people who have it and are enjoying it that’s cool. It’s not a failure. They merely scaled back production. There will be an 18 Air next year.
iPhone 16e and iPhone Air starring at each other.Does anybody even want this phone?
iPhone 17/P/PM and Air have a solution for PWM.Chalk up another one unsuitable for PWM-sensitive folk.
The reduce PWM toggle does nothing for me, nor many others, sadly.iPhone 17/P/PM and Air have a solution for PWM.
Likely. Have to ensure any cases made for the old model don't fit the new one right, to drive new accessory purchasing.A slimmer display bezels means the overall size will be slightly smaller?
I might upgrade next year and if there is a 17E, and it looks like there likely will be, it will be a serious consideration for me.If the 17e does come out next year, I am probably one of the few who would upgrade to it.
Not having the notch would be great, but I don't want a stupid dynamic island either.I might upgrade next year and if there is a 17E, and it looks like there likely will be, it will be a serious consideration for me.
I finally broke down and upgraded to 16e two weeks ago (still using 12 Mini). I have to wait six weeks for the unlocking to happen. Patience! My price ended up being $199 + 55 + 35 (two months service), or right around $300 with taxes. This is with StraightTalk / WalMart deal.the 17e will fail so that the 16e can succeed at a new $499 price
My current 14 has a notch and it doesn’t bother me at all.Not having the notch would be great, but I don't want a stupid dynamic island either.
