I'm curious how dust and debris interact with the screen and joint. When the clam is closed is there a gap between the two halves? I am super skeptical about the durability of the finish on the screen. Obviously this is going to be our invertible "phone" future but there sure seems to be a lot of vulnerabilities. One step foraward a few backwards. Durability, moving parts, water resistance...
Not well. There’s not much of a gap as far as I know, but dust and debris manages to get in there and ruin the display anyway. I think the problem is that you get dust/debris while unfolded, and it ruins the screen when you fold it. It’s pretty common to damage the screen with your fingernails as well…

I’m mostly familiar with the Samsung flip/fold tho. I do like the foldables, but they are fragile.

Apple is really missing out on the repair profits of the folding devices to say the least…

Apple is behind in AI and behind in hardware (no foldable yet), which may lose them marketshare; not necessarily to Google, but to Samsung’s future devices. Add to that the interesting AI devices that OpenAI may come out within the future; one day, perhaps even a phone. Apple will have to pull out all the stops to maintain their marketshare and profitability. That means— innovate.

I really like Pixel phones. I have a Pixel 5 and it have a really good camera, good performance and an amazing battery life.

For me is clear that if I need to go to Android, I would be using a Pixel but.. I'm kind of anti AI so seeing all these AI things google is doing always throw me back to iPhones. Currenty using a 13 Mini and man, I will have a really hard time when the time to upgrade this little phone reach me

So what’s the update to the pixel, apart from MagSafe, all the software Gemini features will be for iPhones and any pixel phone using Gemini app

Wife uses a Pixel 8 and absolutely loves it, and has no interest in upgrading. It's been a fantastic phone. If I was in the market for a phone right now, it would be the 16e or a base Pixel (non-folding); those are literally the only phones that currently interest me.

5x telephoto, 120hz screen, and an open app-store ecosystem on the base Pixel 10 for $799. Not sure why I would pick an iPhone over that.
I'm sure we all here can give you 10,000 reasons, but I will just give you one:
• It runs Android.

It's sad to see that Apple is no longer the brand that pushes the mobile design forward.
As a whole, I don't really care what the competition is doing or whether or not Apple is the number 1 kid of the playground. If Apple makes quality products that interest me and make my life a little easier and enjoyable, I will continue to buy their products. If that changes, I will then take a look at what the other companies are offering.

One of the main features that I like on the androids is the ability to live translate phone calls and live translate whatsapp. I am hoping that ios26 will accomplish this. Honestly that is the only reason that I have to think about androids

"Can you tell me where the air filter is?" "It's that black thing." Wow, I am so jealous of their AI.

Google used to make great phones, I had some of them, but it's a hard pass for me. Those phones are too heavy and they need to bring back the rounded sides/edges before I will buy another one of them.

The competition in question:

Google employee: how many Pixel 10s have we sold?

Google employee 2: three
If it wasn’t true it would be funny. Wait it might be both! 😂

If for some reason I had to buy an android phone it would be a Pixel. It’s not an iPhone but it would be better than no phone
