I’ll probably get one. I got a Pixel 8 for free as a side phone (from a trade in), upgraded to 9, so I’ll upgrade to Pixel 10 since the promotion is available again (via T-Mobile).

My main phone is the iPhone though

With the hideous UI change in iOS 26, I am no longer a fan of the direction the iPhone is going. The Pixel might be something I take a look at.

Make sure to get a good look at ME3 and make sure you can live with that! A huge reason I left Android is the direction that Google took it. Now with Apple making bad UX calls, where are we supposed to go?

Gemini is the reason I’m interested in these phones. I just want an AI assistant that doesn’t completely suck.

However, I mentioned this to my wife and she said “You made a solemn vow when we got married that we will not be a green bubble family!”… so no Pixel for me 🤣

I have to say, RCS has changed the equation on this so nicely for me when interacting with green bubble friends.

Speaking of which -- sure is weird that the Apple Messages icon is Green everywhere

Magic cue looked amazing and actual useful AI for the average Joe.

These Pro phones also have 3300 nits which blows the 2000 on the iPhone away.

Moonstone looks lovely, the qi2 accessories are nice as well.

Apple's hardware designers have better eye for details. Mostly looking forward to a foldable from Apple if it is passport sized.

Looks ok but nah. I’m with the majority of people that just put apps on their phone, I don’t necessarily care about anything else, and from that point of view the majority of devs (big and small) always prioritise their iPhone apps over Android (if they even bothered to release an Android version). Whilst that’s the case, iPhone will always be the go to.

So apparently at the Google event they had an applause sign and they asked the press to clap whenever the sign lit up. Imagine the roasting Apple would get if it ever did that.

Isn't the idea of a folding phone (one that opens like a book) that it's basically a phone that can become a small tablet?
which doesn't make sense since small tablets are portable enough already. what makes sense is to be able to carry something like a small tablet to unfold into a giant workspace.

The fact that it opens up, makes it a tablet.

I am wholly in the apple ecosystem (for a variety of reasons), but I also had a Fold Z, and I loved opening it up, and reading, and working on it.
phone -> small tablet
small tablet -> giant workspace

latter makes sense.

In what way? A folding phone that few will likely buy, with an ugly crease in the screen, just to say “look we are doing something”? Remember all the people claiming they wanted an iPhone mini, but then didn’t actually buy one?
Except that people are actually buying foldables and they're becoming more popular. The Mini went down each year and then was discontinued. When Apple launches its foldable next year everyone will suddenly be on the bandwagon and it'll be touted as the best iPhone ever.
