These are popular in Asia. They're also good for those who are wearing something without decent pockets!

I'm curious, like other posters above, how some magnets are going to stop someone just grabbing the phone.

Nobody is going to want to steal that

hm. Not as ridiculous as people who carry their phone in their back pocket (you sit on your phone, really?) or front pocket (robot penis)

Yes, it's not just as ridiculous. How else am I going to put my phone away? Not down, but away, and not visible to every person walking by?

I keep my phone in back pocket at work as I wear hospital-provided scrubs, and that is the only pocket they have.

that's funny, I was just thinking about that guy who got decapitated by an MRI and wondering what this strap would do to a person

yeah, dunno. feels like scrubs should be redesigned to catch up with modern needs.

Do you carry yours in your handbag?
I do the robot dick during the summer (unless I'm wearing the good shorts with the side thigh pocket) and jacket breast pocket during the cooler months.

Personal scrubs have all kinds of pockets and modern designs, but I have to wear the hospital-provided ones as they are the only ones allowed in sterile areas and in the OR. They don't have many pockets because they don't want you carrying around much. If you work anywhere else in the building, you can wear whatever brand you want, as long as they are correct color.

I know I'm kinda getting up there but do people actually hang devices around their necks? Wasn't that washed out with Flavor Flav?
Considering anything from the 90s is hot & new again, especially the very worst stuff, it may be exactly what they're going for.

iCloud Activation Lock makes theft of iPhones really useless. Even parts like Displays, cameras and batteries have Activation Lock
Someone should tell all the e-bike snatch & grab thieves roaming cities like London. Doesn't seem like the message has gotten through!

i dont see how this would connect to the phone/phone case. The phone cases we've seen just have the airpods pro 2 lanyard thingy in the corners, but the holes in the end of this lanyard dont match with them at all. Are they meant to slip inside the case or something? in which case what are the holes for?
Agreed, and the illustration to the left of the photo only confuses me more.

And yet that doesn't mean iphones still don't get stolen. Not as often, but it still happens. This strap is just good for dangling the bait.

It's also useless as a strap if it's supposed to connect to the phone via magnets. No way those are strong enough to resist anything more than a gentle tug. It will be far too easy to lose your phone just catching it on something as you move.

I had a girlfriend who was a “traveler” and mentioned having to buy the correct color scrubs every time she got a new gig… seems ridiculous

Wasn’t there a rumor that the Apple Watch was getting a band redesign?

Given they’re using the same material as the Apple Watch per the article, makes me wonder if this is also a test for an Apple Watch redesign.

I don't think it's designed to magnetically clip onto the phone, but to loop around an anchor point on a suitable case, and the magnets hold the loop closed.

I think adults who actually use a strapped phone around their neck is trapped in childhood.
They look like they missed the bus to summer camp or something.
Adults with $1,000 cameras have straps. Why, the best place to loose a camera, when taking photos. iPhone big feature, camera. Many an iPhone at the bottom of a canyon or lake. An easy to use strap a good thing. Security a benefit. iPhone easy to seal out of someone’s hands.

Women's trousers have got such useless tiny pockets and phones have gotten so big that they need to be worn like a bag/satchel now?

It would be nice if the loop attachment point could be built into the phone instead of a case though.
