Presumably the new cases will have matching magnets on the side, and/or maybe pins going into those holes.
viable possibility, though, and i'm sure others have pointed it out, but two tiny magnets isn't gonna cut it when it comes to city centres and pickpockets, a bit disappointed that apple doesnt seem to have put a lot of thought into this product :/

Honestly this is good. I'd love it if this finally puts to an end the now two decade scourge of covering up beautiful phones with $10 plastic from China. A way to attach a strap also gives the ability to personalize your phone, not only with a body strap but also wrist straps, or charms that became popular with the iPod touch strap attachment. There was for a time headphone jack charms, which was a pretty smart idea if you ask me — though short lived when the jack was taken away soon after.

I saw a hipster dude wearing his phone on a crossbody strap while I at the grocery store last night. I guess it's the new thing. I carry a camera bag (that's what I call my man-purse lol) and put my phone (and yes, a camera) in there.

Where? I have never seen this, and I travel frequently. Someone mentioned previously this is popular in parts of asia.

I see a lot of wrist lanyards, but never a strap around the neck or over the shoulder.
It's quite common in Asia, but even in North America and Europe, there are several "purse" straps which celebrities have been carrying for a while.

Congrats on whatever parenting you did to make this happen haha…
Haha, it's mostly her sister saying they are addictive and discouraging them, but their school has a 100% ban on phones, from arrival to departure, so not as much peer pressure.

Apple is following fashion now (90s glass design and straps). It used to create style (translucent, clean, white…). Sad times.

I sincerely hope these straps have cut-resistant stainless steel or aramid threads woven into the material, or they're going to make pickpocketing phones SUPER easy.
Riding the NYC Subway in the 90s, you just KNEW to have your backpack in front of you at all times, and never, ever, close your eyes or doze for exactly this reason. Boxcutters were thieves' best friends.

Meteor, come on in. We're ready.
This is why the aliens lock their doors and roll up their windows as their space ships fly by.
That's like a "kick me!" sign right there.
hm. Not as ridiculous as people who carry their phone in their back pocket (you sit on your phone, really?) or front pocket (robot penis)
I have to carry my phone in a front pocket, and that's because I'm carrying my spare magazines in my back pockets. As long as I don't get my phone and concealed-carry pockets mixed up, I'm good. And so is everybody else! ;)

So this strap looks silly...BUT, it does give me an idea.

Why not have a chest rig so it can be worn like a GoPro? "Hey Siri, Start Recording." "Recording activated. You have enough space for X hours of footage."

Aren’t stolen iPhones basically useless nowadays?

Fantastic. Finally I can strap my gigantic heavy and bulky phablet around me so that it doesn't pull my pants when it's in the pocket (provided it still fits my pocket).
To be fair this is almost certainly mostly aimed at women, who often dont *have* usable pockets, at all, because for some reason fashion designers dont think women should be able to carry anything without a purse (my wife, rightfully, gripes about this a lot). So probably aimed at the “I’m only carrying a purse/handbag to have somewhere to stick my phone that isnt my bra” type use, not “my phone is pulling my pants down”

This is for the Asian market where straps are common because people mostly walk instead of drive and pickpockets are rare.
