i dont see how this would connect to the phone/phone case. The phone cases we've seen just have the airpods pro 2 lanyard thingy in the corners, but the holes in the end of this lanyard dont match with them at all. Are they meant to slip inside the case or something? in which case what are the holes for?
Presumably the new cases will have matching magnets on the side, and/or maybe pins going into those holes.

Women's trousers have got such useless tiny pockets and phones have gotten so big that they need to be worn like a bag/satchel now?

It would be nice if the loop attachment point could be built into the phone instead of a case though.
Yeah, I use the Arc case to add drop protection while preserving the naked feel of the phone, and the ability to attach a strap directly would be 👌🏼

And yet that doesn't mean iphones still don't get stolen. Not as often, but it still happens. This strap is just good for dangling the bait.

It's also useless as a strap if it's supposed to connect to the phone via magnets. No way those are strong enough to resist anything more than a gentle tug. It will be far too easy to lose your phone just catching it on something as you move.
If you live in a bad neighborhood, don't buy it then. Let the accessory get released first before putting out criticism

Here's my deeper take on this:

Apple's investing into this accessory for the future of wearable computing involving some form of smart glasses paired to the iPhone. Men usually don't have a problem with the phone in their pocket but I think for women, it's going to be a bigger challenge to always be carrying your iPhone in order to make this distributed computing experience to work.

I don't understand--I attach my phone to a magnetic strap for security?

Can someone just yoink it right off? Because, you know, magnets?

What's nice is that when it's not being actively used, instead of just hanging loose, it can essentially become one with the phone by magnetically snapping to the edges of the phone or the case. This way it's out of the way. Until it's needed.

Any lanyard carried around the next should have a breaking point to prevent strangulation in case the of it getting tangled up in an elevator or similar situation. Where is the breaking point?

Can someone actually explain what this thing is? A necklace? A belt? A lanyard? And how does it supposedly work? The iPhone sucks to it magnetically anywhere on the length? The little end things loop through the supposed case strap hole? I just can't envision this thing in my head in a functional fashion without picturing an iPhone falling to the ground easily.
