Regardless of what the prices are, I paid enough for the 17 Pro and I intend on keeping it for a long time.

They’re already making the “Pro” out of one of the cheapest and easily damaged metals they can to account for tariffs. What’s next, going to iron? 😬

All companies try to keep their costs as low as possible to maintain margins. Additionally all companies want to keep their prices as low as possible while maintaining margins. That's because they know they will sell more if more people can afford to buy their products. It's a delicate balance that in today's world gets distorted by cheap credit.
All companies.... fascinating

Considering that the USD has slid against most major currencies in 2025; this is a smart move.

The Euro gained ~12% against the dollar; the CAD gained ~5%, the pound and aussie dollar? ~7%
If all apple did was keep pricing steady, then they've enacted a price increase on all these countries.

Apple used the Pro models switch to aluminum for dual purpose— as an improved heat sink but also to lower overall cost. It was a brilliant move. I lament the move away from premium materials but they will have little incentive to go back now that the 17 Pros are a massive success.
aluminium is my least concern. Colour discolouration, crackling charging noises when charging and the downgraded speakers is worse.

If you are afraid of damaging a aluminum slab that bad, you probably need to put it on case, and at that point the only thing that matters is the look of the case, and not the phone itself, i keep mine on a case, and even if still made of titanium, it will be on a case because of my work enviroment.

People Seem to forget or not knowing, that hardware cost in an iPhone is a smaller part of total price.
For the iPhone 17 Pro Max (256GB) it is approximately $408 to $500 USD
  • Memory/Storage: ~$21.80/$20.55 Rember Apple is not paying near what we have to.

Pro and Pro Max? My PM has had none of that. Though I did (wisely?) opt for white which anecdotally is the most popular color I've seen.

Never heard crackling when charging but then it charges so rarely and so fast I'm usually not using it at the time.

I don't like that they changed the position of the bottom speaker but other than that they're a huge upgrade from my 13 Pro just like everything has been.

Speaker position might actually be better to get more bounce off a table when placed in landscape.

What kind of downgrade are you talking about?

If you're experiencing some or all these hopefully Apple sorts you out as it's not even six months old.

Not expecting the price of 256GB variants to change. Think the upgrade to each higher memory capacity will cost $250 instead of the current $200.

That's also why apple is focusing more on service revenue. The upgrade interval for most people just keeps getting longer and longer so hardware revenue is taking a hit.
Yeah, they started to witness this trend back in 2017 when they released the iPhone X, that iPhone users were keeping their devices longer and longer on average.

That’s why they started to build up the services area revenue. Sadly, with subscriptions…
