I’m probably in the minority. My iPad Pro has bezels but it’s never bothered me. I rarely notice them. iPhones are a bit different because size is so important. I get it.

But for me, I would be happy if they had a a bezel at the top or they moved the Dynamic Island to the top and had a straight edge dividing it from movies/shows when displayed. I just never liked how the full screen display wrapped around Dynamic Island. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Normally I wouldn’t believe this guy, but this actually makes a lot of sense (if he hasn’t just speculated, of course)

Face ID needs to be centred which is why that would be under-display in the centre, whilst the selfie camera is moved to the side to create the illusion of more space. Actually quite a sound concept.
Face ID works on the iPad regardless of the iPad’s orientation, so it does not need to be centered.

It makes sense for the iPhold inner screen to have the front camera in the corner (it can't be on the crease, and centered on the short side wouldn’t be too convenient either), so maybe this is also for consistency across the lineup. Also for if the iPhold will have a Dynamic Island in landscape.

I'm skeptical of this rumor for a dumb reason: Apple's design choices when it comes to symmetry have always made sense to me, and this doesn't. It just doesn't feel like a thing they'd do. I have looked at so many design choices other companies have made, like having bezels that are a little thicker at the bottom than the sides or top, and thought "Apple would never," and that's kind of how I feel about this.

I could be wrong, but then again, Prosser was also sure that we were gonna get a squared-off watch with the Series 10. I think there are enough other people saying it that it's not just a matter of whether Prosser's right, though.

Top left camera is fine since center stage can fix that. Top left dynamic island just looks dumb. It's okay if the FaceID sensor is up in that corner, but I am positive they will still center dynamic island on the screen rather than make it look janky. I think they would rather eliminate the feature than go this route.

This is a great point I hadn't considered.

IMO, a hole-punch camera will be more unsightly and distracting that the existing Dynamic Island. At least the current centered oval feels intentional and like an eyebrow above the main part of the screen that just fades away.

I haven't used a phone with a hole-punch camera, but a left-aligned one seems like it will just feel like an intrusion in the screen in a random spot, all the time. Especially because they would have to move the camera (and therefore the entire Dynamic Island interface, according to this rumor) down quite a bit for it to fit into the corner radius of the screen.

The iPhone Air USB-C port isn't centred. I'm sure there is some logistical reason for this but it would never have gotten past Jobs.

It actually felt better on the old Galaxy S10 line. When you rotate your phone to landscape (anticlockwise 90 degrees for most people) you don't notice it at all. The DI is just pixels on the screen. Popping out of the corner like the notifications on the PS Vita UI would be a nice touch.

Personally I would put it at the bottom left of the display. Its a place on the screen you rarely interact with and they have the real-estate to nudge the dock upwards by a few mm. You could then have 3 buttons between the dock and the gesture bar: the camera, search and control panel. Pressing the camera opens the dynamic island pill outwards containing all your notifications within easy reach of your thumb. Search activates spotlight and/or Siri and control panel is self explanatory.

Prosser has bigger fish to fry. He should be focusing on his lawsuit rather than reporting alleged rumours.

This would be a terrible idea, starting with it displacing the time display. Folks use that a lot, and it'll cause consternation if it's not where it's always been.

Plus, the Dynamic Island works because the cameras, which can't actually display anything, are centered, and apps have designed their Dynamic Island content around this idea. Content is pushed to the right and left margins of the Island. This design would now create a permanent large blackout area on the right of the Island, requiring content to be redesigned. The Island will have to be bigger to retain its symmetry, and even bigger if you want to hide the fact that there's a huge area not able to display content.

I feel like this is an idea that Jobs would've vetoed in an instant.

General reminder that Prosser has on multiple occasions failed to pay artists and employees for their work.

Absolute bottom of the barrel of the creator community, I don't know why anyone would listen to anything he says.

He was also backstabbed by his co-host and best friend. He’s made great videos with high production and has often been proven right. I think I’ll take my chances with watching his content.

Don't see why that would prevent him from paying his employees, commissions, or artists. People should be held to account for wrongs they've done.

You do you though.

The modernist in me really likes the attention to alignment Apple's UI team has begun to embrace. Centering everything is lazy design.
