Apple's upcoming iPhone 18 Pro Max will be slightly thicker than its predecessor, measuring in at 8.8mm, up from 8.75mm on the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The information comes from oft-accurate Weibo-based leaker Ice Universe.

The claim chimes with a report last year that alleged hardware changes in the iPhone 18 Pro Max will make it the heaviest iPhone yet.

Last November, fellow Weibo-based leaker Instant Digital said the body of the iPhone 18 Pro Max will be slightly thicker than the iPhone 17 Pro Max, tipping its weight over 240 grams and making it the heaviest iPhone since the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

That could be good news for those who crave longer-lasting battery life. Digital Chat Station – yet another Weibo-based leaker – has claimed the iPhone 18 Pro Max will feature a bigger battery, with a capacity in the range of 5,100 to 5,200 mAh (up from 5,088 mAh in the eSim version of the iPhone 17 Pro Max).

Apple isn't expected to change the screen size of the iPhone 18 Pro Max, and it will feature the same 6.9-inch display as the current model.

The ‌‌iPhone 18‌‌ Pro and ‌‌iPhone 18‌‌ Pro Max are expected to launch later this year, featuring a possibly smaller Dynamic Island, the C2 modem, a simplified Camera Control, and an upgraded main camera with a variable aperture.

As long as the regular pro model phone maintains the same size and weight, that would be perfect😎 a lot of us users can’t stand Apple continuing to increase the screen size of the base pro model phone

Keep the larger screen size increases and additional weight increases exclusive to the pro max phone and NOT the regular pro model!

Every year it’s the same thing, more thicker with more weight. I cant lie though I’ll probably have a new brick in my pocket come late September unless Siri causes a delay and I have to wait until 2027.

Wish we could go back to the time when people still understood the importance of weight and size when it comes to a mobile device.

The phones get bigger and bigger and heavier year by year.

This is just unacceptable.

Why not getting a freaking iPad if someone needs huge weight and screen size while keeping mobile phones small and light?

The 17PM battery is already pretty incredible. I can’t kill the thing no matter what I do….. usually had to top up my 16PM in the afternoons, but with the 17PM I still have anywhere from 10-20% when I go to bed around 11pm

You don’t speak for a lot of users on here

This makes me wonder if they know they are adding a more energy demanding component and they need the overall battery life to stay the same as this year?

0.05mm extra thickness is probably not going to be that noticeable. But I still wish the 18 Pro Max wasn't getting thicker. And I really wish it wasn't getting heavier. Every year I have wanted a bigger battery in an iPhone, until the 17 Pro Max. This battery is fantastic. But even as someone who LOVES large phones, the 17 Pro Max is noticeably harder to handle than my old 13 Pro Max. At 6.9" you really don't want the phone to ALSO be extra thick.

I was planning on a quick upgrade from the 17 Pro Max to 18 Pro Max this year because I didn't get enough storage with my 17 Pro Max and I was hoping for better colors. But yet another increase in thickness and weight (this is the 3rd year in a row) would make me reconsider.
