Hot take but the battery life is fine on the 17 Pro. At this point, I’d rather them start prioritizing thinness again if they can maintain the current battery life; I definitely don’t want the phone to get any thicker or heavier. Give us silicon carbon and make this bad boy 20% thinner and 20% lighter with the same battery life we have now.

BTT, 240g is pretty much what what my 13 Pro Max was. It felt heavy. No, this has nothing to do with "going to gym". Eventually its simply getting uncomfortable to hold, and even more, it gets quickly annoying in your pocket. Also I don't know anyone who screamed for even longer battery life than the 17PM already provides... but okay, some will be happy.

Luckily, the regular 17 got good enough for most people and still has a good weight of 177gramm.

To me it doesn’t matter. But there were quite some posters with their preferences.

My dream wish for iPhone Air successor is a 96 MP single camera lens at 20 mm wide angle (0.75x). Center crop for 26 mm (1x), 52 mm (2x), and 78 mm (3x).

As long as the regular pro model phone maintains the same size and weight, that would be perfect😎 a lot of us users can’t stand Apple continuing to increase the screen size of the base pro model phone

Keep the larger screen size increases and additional weight increases exclusive to the pro max phone and NOT the regular pro model!

Wish we could go back to the time when people still understood the importance of weight and size when it comes to a mobile device.

The phones get bigger and bigger and heavier year by year.

This is just unacceptable.

Why not getting a freaking iPad if someone needs huge weight and screen size while keeping mobile phones small and light?

This is where the Air makes sense. The regular 17 is the tolerable weight and size for many, while the 17 Pro/Max go all out, full utilitarian approach. A lot of folks thought the leaks for AW Ultra were funky with the flat top, which is similar to the plateau on 17 Pro. For the maximalist users, the PM is better than ever, and comes with a physical presence to match. The Air fits for those who want thinner and lighter, even though it’s not much lighter than standard 17. Unless Apple adopts other battery technology, I foresee the Pro models continuing a utilitarian trajectory, and the regular or Air going for aesthetics… if the latter is continued. I’m still baffled at the PM being the best seller by a wide margin.

It should be forbidden to advertise a device size by the thinnest point. The only dimension that matters is where the device is thickest, so for iPhones it’s the camera bump (or whatever silly marketing term apples comes up with).

It’s not my type of phone size anyway,
but to be fair and to reflect this basically invisible difference of 0.05 mm, the first sentence should read “… iPhone 18 Pro Max will be mathematically thicker than its predecessor…”.

My gold standard is still the iPhone 6s, especially its 143g weight … served me well for almost 5.5 years.

Increase in battery capacity will be very good. Looks like the physical SIM versions of the 18 Pro/Pro Max will have battery capacity similar to that of eSIM versions of 17 Pro/Pro Max.

No thank you. One of the reasons I traded in my 14PM and upgraded to the 16 PM was because the 16PM was lighter! The SS made it really heavy and the titanium was noticeably lighter. Much prefer the 16 PM design too. Not a fan of the current PM colors and want the gold color back for my next upgrade, hopefully they bring titanium back to the PM, and it's not going to to be exclusive to the air (and possibly fold).
