Since you like to invert the nomenclature, can I assume by “they are adding depth” you mean “enhancing the depth of field blurring” (actually a smaller/more shallow depth of field)? They are not, because the current lenses have a fixed, wide-open aperture. All they could do is adjust the aperture down, which translates to a longer/larger depth of field —> increased sharpness.No they are adding depth, a function that hither to was only available in a faux form with portrait mode, an ai cheat, and also something that is only possible with the use of larger sensors
