I wonder if these will scratch the same way the 17 Pro does – or is that not really a thing, despite early reports?

Like many other commenters, I love the dark cherry one. Even to the point of tempting me to get a Pro iPhone, if it wasn’t because it’s too big and expensive for me. But wow…

The light blue one is the one I like the least. I think it had its time (twice) during the iPhone 13 Pro and 14 era, as the Sierra Blue color.

Every phone I look at and buy, I think this is the one I will rock naked. It's in a case by day 1....I drop my phone or it falls off my lap probably weekly so yea.

I loved the Sierra blue, but it already had its moment. Also, I'm bummed that the long rumored "red" has now turned into an alternate version of deep purple...

I love the blue. And this will be the first time in years that I'll be "downgrading" to the regular size phone.

The only black color Mophie battery case covers all but the camera plateau on my replacement iPhone 17 Pro Max 2TB, so silver or white works for me. I got the clear Apple case for the iPhone Air backup iPhone. The Air also has the white Apple auxiliary battery

I don't love it. Apple is still mired in their 'little fun' era and just can't let go of desaturated or dark/'mature' colors. But the dark cherry is still the one I'd go with and it's a sight better than the specific burgundy red that concepts have been showing up until this point.

Ah yes, cough syrup red.

Also can they just stick to a set of colors and be consistent. Like every year they do this? What if people like the color of their iPhone 12 or 13 and just want the same color when they upgrade to an 18. Why make it more complicated for users?

Digging the light blue. I would never get black. Black color would add to overheating more since it absorbs heat (plus scratches and any marks show up a lot easier in black).

But the wine mom color would be a hit.

I think they’re rounding the edges of plateau to avoid scratch-gate (so adding another process to the aluminum body). Recall a rumor about it. I’m curious if the unibody gets passed down the the regular 18. Or stays as a pro feature for a while.

I can’t get excited for any aluminum iPhone. Sorry. The 17 pro max feels so cheap, it looks less like a $2000 flagship phone and more like Aliexpress audio equipment. Count me in for the return to glass with the iPhone XX
I have the 17PM and Air. The Air is so much more durable. In fact, I dropped it out of a lifted pickup truck over the weekend and it landed on hard concrete and not a scratch. If I did that with the 17PM would be a major dent. That’s why the 17PM has an ugly case on it as it’s my work phone. Air really is a better more innovative device. Just wish it had a 200MP ultrawide camera if only one camera.

If I search for the color "dark cherry" on Google, I get something completely different from what's shown in the article, both the original and this version. What's shown is more of a purple tone than red; I don't know how they can say it's some kind of red variant, much less a dark one. I don't know what kind of wine they drink, but this color shown doesn't resemble the color of wine at all hahaha

search the pantone code

It's a good start. They're starting to look like premium phones again. Get rid of the garbage can aluminum and they'll look good again.
