It is now a Dynamic Islet? Key? Isle!!

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale
A tale of an iPhone strip

Oh why did liquid glass ship...

I’m wondering if the software will just make it bigger anyway.
Maybe it’s physically smaller but the software will make it the same size it is, and that’s what the disagreements are about.
Yep. While the physical dimension of the Dynamic Island will be smaller, the software will still afford expansion, as needed. I still think that one of their cooler software UI/UX solutions. A good example turning a potential negative into a potential positive.

Better than no change at all... it's more pleasing aesthetically. But not a significant difference in user experience until it's gone altogether.
Agreed.. only more headache for dev's to support another size of this element.. Get rid of it entirely or leave it I say...

Do the people sarcastically decrying perfectly good iterative improvements think they’re being edgy or original? It’s not either; it’s just tedious.

It was obvious when the notch appeared on the iPhone X that Apple would spend the next years iterating to the point where there was no notch, and then no cut out at all. This is another welcome step on that road.

To this day, other manufacturers still can’t match the speed and convenience of FaceID. That was the innovation.

Dynamic sandbar.

I had to look my phone (16 Pro) 2-3 times and twist it to hit the light correctly to see a difference. 🥱

On the iPhone 13 series Apple reduced the notch for only one model year replacing it the following year with the Dynamic Island. Let's hope Apple can accomplish a full screen without any intrusions for the 20th anniversary model next year at least on the higher end models after the smaller Dynamic Island in this year's iteration. Fingers crossed.

I still don’t get the obsession. I’d rather have a slightly taller top bezel that’s houses most of this and one pinhole camera cutout than any kind of Dynamic Island. The way the software works around it could easily just work with a taskbar at the top, people seem to think it only works because of the cutout itself.

I also don’t get the obsession with bezels, we’ve reached a point where they’re so small that any further reductions offer no physical advantages, your phone won’t be any easier to hold or use, in fact you’re just increasing the likelihood of accidental touches, furthermore cases will start to become impossible to fit as there’s no lip for them to clip around.

Moving it to the backside is a good move, IMO.

Great, but does this iPhone even matter? With the Fold coming, then next year's full screen anniversary phone.

Too bad I still am on my iPhone 15 Pro Max. Still doing fine, but battery sort of losing some steam. Let's see how long I can hold out before an upgrade.

For those of us who like the mini-widget of info the current Dynamic Island provides like a sports score or vehicle/delivery status, this is a potential regression since we'd have to tap to expand the widget. Less friction is better.
