You are flat wrong buddy! I have compared db of AT&T HSDPA reception between the iPhone 3G and an HTC TyTN/AT&T 8525—which is not known to have THAT GOOD of reception—and the results were staggering; I don't remember the exact results but the iPhone was <-100 while the TyTN was >-80. Don't make unbacked claims; while at&t's 3G network is far from perfect, the iPhone is very much to blame here.

I totally agree with you. I switched to the Blackberry Curve cause my iphone kept on having echos with calls. People would call or I would call them and they would hear echo'ing; full signal.

Anyhow, my call quality is better with the Blackberry. For now the iphone is used for gaming or movies when I am on the go.

We have been clamoring for more than a year now about cut and paste.

If they're working like most companies, Apple will be prioritising new features/bug fixes based on a combination of the number of people who ask for them and how difficult they will be to implement. Given that it looks like cut and paste shouldn't be that hard to do, that probably means that not too many people have actually submitted feedback to Apple asking for it rather than whining about it on forums.

Dear retards who want MMS:

Take a picture. Email it to your friends PHONE NUMBER. They get it on their phone.

If their carrier supports it, yes. If they don't, that won't work.

Backing up takes forever! But with 2.1, not so much..

How do you skip backup? After 6 weeks of having my phone, I just synced it with my computer for the first time. The 2.1 update took 12 minutes from start to finish. If it took that short of a time, does that mean it did not backup? Where do I have a choice? I don't recall it asking me.
Just click the little round "X" to the right of the status message. This will cancel the backup, and move on the next part of the syncing. It is harmless to do this except if you happen to have to restore before you let it finish a backup, you'll lose some data. Also, backing up seems to be part of the 2.1 update process, I'd let that one go through. My backup yesterday took 6 hours no kidding. Today's took 20 minutes. Better!

Here's my blog entry on this backup stuff: http://www.myallo.com/blog/2008/07/syncing-the-apple-iphone-20-takes-forever/

Seems like they raised the switching threshold from Edge to 3g.
Working very well in a fringe 3g area by not switching as easily.
People who think this update gives you a stronger signal because of the bars are unaware of the technical side of this update.
So far everything works as claimed. Installed it on my 1st gen as well.

One question about the new function " repeat alert up to two additional times for incoming text messages"

In my settings i don't see this. Is it automaticly?

and you are one of many of the causes of people's problems with 3G call drops and data issues, as 2.0.2 was to remedy the call/data issues, and people on 2.0 or 2.0.1 were causing power drains on the towers. Update your jailbreak to 2.0.2 and stop messing the rest of us up!

Umm Okay-it that were true-seems like you drank the Apple Kool-Aide on that one...

Go back and read the SAME ISSUES when 2.0.2 was issued-the whole 'signal strength boost" appears to be a red herring in both 2.0.2 and 2.1-based strictly on the anecdotal evidence presented here.

They need to add a way that you can close the keyboard in a text message without going back to the messages and opening it again. Do it like the AIM app does and just double-tap the message area.
