It seems also that the walking and public transportation directions are also absent from the Touch?

Also, the backspace still sticks when typing something into a webpage?

Can anyone else confirm this?

disappointed to say the least.

Did you try getting directions? The options for driving, mass transit, and walking show up after the directions have been received.

iPod Touch compatibility

ok so according to the release notes that came with my 2.2 for my 2g ipod touch, everything else in the update is the same as the iPhone EXCEPT for all maps updates.

the Maps application is exactly the same on ipod touch's as it was in 2.1

no walking directions
no public transit
no street view

i tried it out on my ipod and its true.

that is ABSOLUTELY ridiculous. I have no idea why they would do that

umm...Street view is not on the iPod Touch. :p

Google Street View isn't on the iPod touch...

I'm in Melbourne too and it took about 2 minutes... Change ISP!

Awww dammit. And I'm hearing that directions aren't' there too...
:mad::apple::mad::apple::mad::apple::mad::apple::mad::apple::mad:

Oh well.

PS: I can only afford 1.5Mbps. I have the Netspace 1500 8GB Peak/8GB Off Peak, $40 a month, bundled with home phone. Best value out there, in Australia at least. :jealous: at people in the USA getting 24Mbps+, UNLIMITED, for $20/month!

Anyway lets not turn this into an internet debate :)

5 minutes on the ticker.... I'm getting desperate!

Emoji

Someone maybe already posted this but i went into the iphone manual and looked at the emoji this is what it said on page 27

Enter Emoji picture characters Use the Emoji keyboard. Available only on
iPhones purchased and used in Japan.

:( :(

well that answers that about the maps.

Can any Touch users still confirm that the backspace still sticks when using it in webpages?

Very annoying.

Apple reads Macrumors!!!

fw 2.2

Installed here over fw 2.1.

iPhone seems faster but can be related to reboot.

I like the Home button linking back to the first screen.

And wow, guess what. After the upgrade my iPhone is WATERPROOF.

Answer the question with another question.

Did you read the release notes?

It clearly stated that the products compatible with the update are the iPhone, and the iPhone 3G, NOT the iPod Touch.

BL.

Ah, and so iPod Touch owners get screwed over again... Way go to Apple...

It's taking forever to backup. It's been an hour and a half now.

Dude i am not sure but i think if you have lock set on the phone then when it locks you updates pauses. I am not sure but i was clicking the home button every 30 seconds while the update started so my phone didnt go to "stanby" mode and lock itself.

valid question...especially since they updated the "you can't download songs over cellular network" page to include info about podcasts

It's a licensing issue. This has been widely reported. Apparently labels want to charge more for OTA downloads and Apple says no.

If the rumoured deals about DRM-free songs are true, it's a fair bet Apple is also negotiating OTA downloads. They don't like a half-accessible store.

At work atm so I can't update yet. Can anyone tell me if texts now show who they are from on the locked home screen when preview is off? Like it used to be before 2.1?

Also, is street view available in the UK?

Thanks :D
