Just curious, where did you find that pricing as I can't seem to find anything online relating to a contract free iPhone.
Never-mind, I found said prices.

The Touch is not a one-time fee. $20 for iphone apps. Another $10 for the ability to buy more apps and a scientific calc I won't use. 99 cents additional for every song you have on it, or at least that's what they are worth.
No, an iPod Touch is not a one-time fee.
The best reason an iPod Touch should come down in price is that it will be competing with 1st gen iPhones that were deserted when their owners upgrades to the new iPhone. Look for 1st gen iPhones on ebay for $199 or less on July 11th. No monthly fee. An iPod with a camera, speaker, and mic.

We'll see. Every gen 1 iphone is a used and outdated one. Only idiots pay new price for a used car. Only the 3G iPhones will be a hot commodity, except for used gen 1 iPhones that are being sold for $199 or less by those who upgraded. Not true. The iphone will still be a hot commodity even after iphone 3g comes out.

If I had a 2G iphone and wanted a 3G when they came out, I'd pay $199 for the 3G and make my $199 back by selling my 2G without phone service for $199 to someone wanting a Touchscreen iPod with camera, mic, and speaker.
