I'm not sure whether it's been mentioned before, but wmv files (as an email attachment) now have quicktime icon. Maybe 3.0 will play wmv files?

again, not sure if its official or mentioned before.

Cheers.

I guess we won't have the full Internet experience yet then. Can't even view CNN, NYT, CBS even Mac centric sites that uses Flash.
chromeexperiments.com
you dont need flash to do anything. websites should start using javascript. everything on that website is javascript and javascript only. no flash whatsoever.

Right. Like Apple will suddenly convince them to drop Flash just for the iPhone. I don't thnk so. ;-)

Question. I know Flash, HTML/5, CSS, I don't know javascript. However, in glancing over javascript, what is the difference between javascript and Actionscript 3? They seem similar.

Edit contacts phone-wide

One thing that I have noticed is that you now have the ability to edit contacts in the Phone app. It was annoying when you used the phone app, clicked a contact, and you weren't able to edit it. They have added aN 'edit' button so that you can edit your contacts outside of the Contacts App.

I just wish when rotating in iPod mode, Cover Flow didn't exit you out of a playlist and default to "all Albums". What's wrong with a cover flow depicting only the album tracks in that playlist??

Still waiting

I'm not impressed, yet...

Apple needs to lift the limit on Apps and make organizing & navigating apps easier. There was something developed by a company back in the last millennia called folders or directories. Something like that...

Another thing we need is better data entry, copy, cut, paste, short cut data entry, etc. I should be able to enter *w@ and have it enter my email address where * is some special short cut key and then you type a sequence that triggers the entry. Old tech. Also on each type of field the right data keys should be available. This switching between keyboards is a hassle.

Anyone know if any companies have released app's that use the Push Notification service? Kind of a pre release package to do traffic modeling with the potential dev traffic. I wanted to get an idea of how it works before comitting server resource and coding an app that uses it.

Totally AMAZING...I already posted ALL of these finds and now MR thinks its important??? My 100 Features covers everyone of these items and they have been released through all 3 stages of the beta so far. MR...you should give your own posters credit before posting OLD NEWS, just cause they have pretty pictures!

Many of your regulars and I have listed, validated and tested at least 40+ new features of the 100 stated. Its alright fellow posters...at least I thanked you and gave credit where credit was due but I guess were just not newsworthy enough!

Java is slow.

So many things are done with flash now and since a massive majority isn't using iphone for thier internet experiences, no way in hell that java will replace flash. Long live flash!

Nobody said anything about java. Javascript and Java are two completely different programming languages that have next to nothing to do with each other. You shouldn't say anything if you don't know what you're talking about.

Maybe, in 2 or 3 years, perhaps, some websites will transition to that.

But NOW, TODAY, with many many websites - Flash is required. Anyone pretending otherwise is delusional.

Why did I rate this story negative?
Because the bloody iPhone is the nail in the coffin of my beloved Mac experience.
Because of the iPhone Apple Inc. was born and Apple COMPUTER Inc. was brought to the grave.
And the main reason is, because the iPhone crowd, that gathered here over the years, has made this place a very hostile and fanboyish environment. See the quoted messages below to know what I mean.

Those are hostile and fanboyish? I don't know, sounds like people voicing their opinions to me. Perhaps not altogether realistic, but this is MacRumors... some Apple bias is to be expected. If people are excited about the iPhone, and the iPhone brings people into the Apple--and perhaps, eventually, the Mac--fold, I think that's a ultimately a good thing. Just my opinion, take it as you will. My other opinion that over the years my Mac experience has consistently gotten better and better, including the post-Apple Computers, Inc. era.

Side note

This is a side note, but every time I use Flash, my computer heats up, the fans spin like crazy, and everything else gets a little slower.

Someone (maybe the JavaScript people) could do a study of how much energy (and money) Flash wastes compared to a competing newish standard like JavaScript. I have to guess it would be a LOT. It would be a nice marketing ploy, too.

It's because the implimentation of Flash on OSX is, to be blunt, crap.

Which, I'm sad to say, seems to be entirely Apple's fault, as they provide no support to Adobe for hardware acceleration of the technology, because Apple wants to get rid of flash with javascript and quicktime.

You Tube app has been altered in the new 3.0... Now you can sign in to your account, make playlists, view subscriptions, and my personal favorite... you can view comments of the videos you watch afterwards. Before, after you finish watching the video it just gave you some more info on it and related videos. Now there are two tabs, one for info and other one for related videos. Its very cool!

I hope they can add badges when you have unwatched subscribed videos.

Question: Does the scrubbing feature also work with video? I export my eyeTV recordings to iPhone and ad skipping is oh so painful. What I wouldn't give for a 30 second 'jump' button.

Seems to

Alright... So it seems to work higher you go the faster (as with songs) lower the finer (as with songs) but it does not tell you what speed you are on, at least not for me, or not yet.

Hope i helped
