So how big should phone screens go? 4"? 5"? I can remember when 2.4" was a big screen on a phone.

I think you're in denial. Thankfully Apple didn't chose a 2.5" screen in 2007 because the Apple apologists would probably argue that is the perfect size haha!

I wouldn't be surprised if you have 10 negatives soon. Get the (f) out of here with that 3.5" is the perfect size..hell, maybe in 2007.

4 years from now it will be a 7" screen phone then?

I had a C905 back then and it was a good phone.

If it came down to having the screen we have now, vs a bigger screen and less battery life than I'm all for the screen we have now. A bigger screen will only eat up battery life, and I'm not going to be a droid user that has to carry around a charger with me all the time

Are you saying that as screen size increases, battery life decreases exponentially? It's my understanding that larger screen = larger device = larger battery.

And who really wants a bigger phone in their pocket? Im not trying to walk around with a brick in my pocket. iPhone 4 is perfectly sized to me. Everyone here wants bigger screen, thinner size, and better battery life. The expectations are out of this world.

I can only imagine the stress on developers:
iPhone 4 brings retina display
This imaginary iPhone brings a 4 inch screen...

Developers are then all over the place, supporting the 4, iPad, a bigger screened iPhone and possibly a retina display iPad later.

Apple does not want to fracture its products, which all of you seem to want them to do.

If you want a bigger screen get a tablet, nuff said.

So a tablet = a phone?

My Atrix has a 4" screen and it just barely bigger than the 4. Actually I think the physical size of the 4 is a bit small. The problem with the iPhone is Apple knows that they can do next to nothing and they'll still sell millions. They showed a pic of the 4s next to the Inspire and Atrix showing that it was capable of the same data speed even though the Inspire came out in February and the Atrix came out in March. They're playing catch up right now. The 4s is a pretty weak offering for 16 months of work.

How does 7" make sense to you? Are you going to hold a 7" device up to your head? No. Can you hold a 4-4.3" screen up to your head? Yes, obviously so. Just because screen sizes are increasing doesn't mean that 4 years from now they will be 7".

I think 4" is perfect and actually maybe even stretching it a bit for me, since I have small hands. My S2 is really awkward when trying to reach across the screen with one hand. So I'm half-happy with the 3.5" screen. 4" would have been better.

lol a 4 inch screen is not out of this world, its very much in your local providers store. In abundance.

I have a 4.5" screen and go 2 days on a charge ... and my phone is only 9.6mm thick. It fits nicely in my pocket.

Myth. Or an overdose of drinking the kool-aid

Your statement may have flown well in the pre-Gingerbread Days of android. There are people that are getting easily 25+ hours on their 4 inch+ android devices in today's time, with a decent amount of usage

A bigger screen, as in physical size, not resolution, is what is meant. ;)
