Absolutely. America. Free to be racist and make ignorant comments. Calling this woman "Kiko" simply because she is Asian is not unlike calling someone "Jose" simply because he is hispanic or "Mohammed" because he is from the Middle East. This woman is Chinese. Not Japanese. Yes, her parents would have been free to name her anything they wanted but why would "Kiko" just pop into your head?

wow chill man. It's not like he's trying to be racist, it's just the first thing to pop into his head. If it was an american girl and he named her julie you wouldn't have said a thing. Kiko isn't offensive or a substitute for something bad. It's just his first thought.

How is thinking of the name kiko racist????? and how is that ignorant???? Where have you heard racist people calling chinese women kiko? just because I came up with a random name and not looking up the origin that means i am racist and ignorant? Next time just for you ROTO I will look up its origin so that I dont offend people who think being PC is the way things should be. If you dont like free speech then take the next plain boat or train to the place that will make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Look the Name Kiko is the first name that popped into my head when I saw her picture. I did not look up if it was japanese or chinese. People today are to PC and need to take a chill pill. This is America land of the Free Speech. If you dont like what I had to say or in this case the name that I made up I am sorry. but we are in America. nuff said.:D

Classic American, assuming everyone else on this thread is American, and in America too.....

thanks for knowing that I am not a racist person. I guess this guy would go after the gaming industry for them naming the Character in a ninja fighting game with a common japanese/ chinese name :D

np. people are becoming so PC to the point where we are losing our right to free speech!

Before posting this thread, did you even think of the consequences of putting this up on the internet?

People could lose their jobs because of this, which could, depending on this situation be a big deal for them with serious consequences.

That's a twisted sense of morality. Perhaps the people taking the pictures should have thought of that. Instead of screwing around with the product, they should have been doing their job.

Actually, I think the OP was sexist for calling her Kiko just 'cos she's a girl. Why couldn't she be called "Bob", if she wanted?

Eh? :p

You do have a good point there.

no that would be sexist too. we might as well go with a name that is universal for both. Such as korie or corey but then that is sexist as well depending on which spelling

I really hope you're kidding.

Let's all take a deep breath...

Let's not jump on AMcBroom81 for his innocent choice of name for the girl in the photo. I'm sure his only intent was to further a then-pleasant discourse on an Internet forum.

I don't, however, view the detractors of his name choice as being too PC. Mentioning the difficult relationship between China and Japan in the 20th Century is merely a recognition of history. Noting that Chinese don't like to be confused with Japanese is a recognition of reality.

Again, let's not jump on AMcBroom81 for his innocent name choice. I'm sure there was no ill intent. However, if we do want to be "PC", then I suggest an alternate name like Mei Ling...

I do, however, take strong exception to some other poster's comment about why "we" deal with China (and India) despite the history of infanticide. I know of no society that has no flaws - America's included. I can go on and on about America's flaws, including towards its women, but that would hardly be constructive. That comment about not dealing with China (and India) is the epitome of ignorance.

Yeah, I agree. I can't say I blame people for giving him crap though. It's really not the intent, moreso the brash attitude of "well that's what I came up with, so deal with it. It's a free country!" Granted that's true, but attempting to validate your nescience just makes you look worse.

Really though, its not like the guy was trying to make an incendiary remark.

Awww bandwidth exceeded-- does anyone have the OP photos elsewhere?

Bandwidth Exceeded! :(

We need to get these pictures up somewhere else so I can see them. I'm curious what all of the others looked like!

EDIT: Ummm... Nevermind. Our good friend jeffblakely has taken care of this. :)
