fun at work

I think it's great that she's having a little fun at work. Otherwise, working at a factory is probably a really drab endeavor. I doubt she'll get fired because it's no big deal. The person who got the iphone with the pictures can always just delete the pictures if he doesn't like them. And if he REALLY doesn't like the phone, he can always return it for a refund or an exchange. In the grand scheme of things, it's not like Apple has been dealt a huge financial damage. And I honestly doubt Apple will even bother to find the lady because she'd probably want to maintain her privacy anyways. I sincerely don't believe she realized her picture has been sent out with the phone. I know I personally wouldn't want a bunch of strangers to get their hands on MY picture and post it all over the internet.

And she looks to be between 20-24, contrary to what some Americans insist on this board. Asian women tend to look young well into their 50s. I'm 24 and people still think I'm in high school. I remember how in my senior year of college, people I didn't know kept asking how I managed to get into upper level courses for my major, LOL. My mom's 50 and people think she's 35. I think it's great that we (asian women) usually don't get old and dumpy fast.

ps
I totally agree with "aworldofidiots" when he writes that "[3] nobody cares if you "don't like asian girls, but this one is cute" and that is the most assinine, self-contradicting remark I've ever read". It IS incredibly asinine but there are morons in the world and morons on this board. I skimmed some of the moronic posts here (one of which, implied that the iphone girl needed to be "rescued" from China without even realizing that the majority of the people in China are incredibly happy with their country right now, LOL) and in the end, chose to skip them to save time. Let the idiots post all the inflammatory false things they want. Anyone with a quarter of a brain would just roll their eyes.

:p I think "Iphone girl" looks adorable and sweet. It's nice to see people smiling and happy while working. No one was harmed by her beautiful picture, so she should continue to work at Foxconn. If she was fired for this, I would be extremely upset. It was clearly a simple error with no ill intent behind it. I wish my Iphone came with a happy picture. This world takes the silliest things so seriously. Relax and enjoy the gift of a smile.:p

I can't believe I actually signed-up to this Mac Forum just to comment on Iphone Girl.

Anyway, I'm connected with a marketing firm and interested in cutting a deal with her to advertise our 3G services in the Asia-Pacific region. I'm sending some folks down to Shenzhen. Any latest news if she's still with Foxconn?

In a way, I feel bad for her.

I just realized that the iphone girl is probably overwhelmed by all the unexpected publicity she's been getting these days. While most of the publicity has been positive, a segment of it has also been negative (as seen by some of the dumbest posts on this board that I've had the misfortune to read. i.e. as the ones that assert random unsubstantiated lies as the truth and of course the trolls)

You can bet that from now on, nobody will ever get a picture of a cute factory employee anymore because everyone will be too apprehensive to allow their picture to be taken. Apple employees will probably end up taking pictures of boring things like the floor or ceiling when testing the iphone camera. Oh joy.

if it's in their job description to take pics of themselves then i see no reason why apple fired them. i am sure it is not their job otherwise apple would have no grounds for giving them the boot.

Her job description is to test the product, the only mistake was, of course, her co-worker forgot to delete it. what do you think QC stands for? I'm sure you're not perfect either.....everybody makes mistakes.

So far, based on the news media, she is still working for Foxconn and was not fired. However, I don't trust the Chinese media 100%. I wish her the best.:)

Fired? This is China... she'll be lucky to not be executed:p:p
No, seriously, I think it's awesome.
Someone should post new secret pictures of upcoming products for us to look at here at Macrumors.

There is no doubt that you're brain-washed. Have you ever been China?
That's not 70s any more, we already move on. Man-slaughter time is long gone. You people are so ignorance!

To all of you who think that she is fired... SHE IS NOT!!!

she is so fired

That's crazy.

Once this spreads into the blogosphere she will be fired.

looks like foxconn will be having one less worker on the assembly line...

This is hilarious. She should get a promotion, since it's probably her boss taking the pic...:p

She would not be the one to get fired as she was not the one taking the picture. She was in the picture.

If she gives up the person taking the picture He/She will be fired. Not girl (kiko as I have named her )LOL :D

Pronounced: Key-co

she looks pretty happy for an indentured live-in employee. too bad she probably has no job now. :(

Why would she lose her job? she is not the one who took the picture or could erase it

Wow, it looks like they have a dental plan. Her teeth are so straight!

...

My first thought was that she is going to be fired... but on second thought, maybe the picture shows how humane their working conditions are... and like I said, they have a dental plan! Apple wouldn't fire her for showing how good it is. (I thought it was much worse anyways... and I always thought it was some old hag that put together my iPod and iMac... not a nice looking young girl.)

That's a great find. It really is an excellent way to connect with customers and have a good laugh.

Hope she gets a raise instead of in trouble.

I'd promote her to QA and have her work all up and down the line.

:p

I hope she and the person who took it don't get into trouble. Looks like they were just having some fun while working on what could be a repetitive and boring assembly line job.

Dude- she's already been executed. I guess Apple could still use the image in an ad campaign.

I agree - I don't want any bad to come of this - I spent a few days contemplating whether I should just ignore it or whether the Apple community would appreciate it - I think Apple should find her and use her in a promotion !

Because everyone knows that there's no such thing as a sense of humor in communist China.

To all of you who think that she is fired, let me tell you something... She is NOT!!!
In fact she already got a raise!;)
BTW, rumors are that she is going to be the next icon in Apples' campain'...:apple:

so what happened to that yellow line?? its in the first two pictures but not the last one and the angle of the picture did change very much...? so what happened to it?

I think that is the conveyor belt thingy that the iphones travel on from one assembly area to another i.e. it's moving ...

I'm donating a minute of my time in the hopes of educating you idiots: [1] Chinese factories are modern facilities, not "sweatshops". Get a life and read up or visit China before you start a stupid rumor [2] kiko is Japanese; this is a Chinese factory, [3] nobody cares if you "don't like asian girls, but this one is cute" and that is the most assinine, self-contradicting remark I've ever read, [4] posing for a photo would be as much grounds for termination as taking a photo (assuming it is against company policy to use a camera phone to take a photo), so I wouldn't suggest the maker of that comment be a lawyer anytime soon, [5] many of you can't spell or think straight - e.g., "photo's", [6] many of you will discard this post as an angry, cynical outburst, but the more intelligent reader will recognize it as simple truthful interpretation. Good luck to those with half a brain.

wow "aworldofidiots"... how about you just chill and work on taking that stick out of your butt!! dont get me wrong, im sure your perfect, but you should think about seeing someone about all this anger you have! it must be tuff being such a perfect person stuck in a world of idiots...

i don't mind to have pictures of a pretty girl on my iphone. feel someone is greeting at me with a smiling face everytime i switch on the iphone. :D

you must be the luckiest one who got that phone. :)

I became interested in the Yahoo headline about this iphone girl. And i just found myself entering and registering here only to make a comment about her. Oh well, she's indeed cute!. She has the charm to attract most of us. I wish her a bright future... Her smile brightens up my day!!! :):)

I thought this was a cute story, with an adorable young lady with a beautiful smile. It's kind of funny that everyone has overlooked the one single message clearly being sent to us by "Iphone Girl" and that is clearly visible in her pictures. "Iphone Girl" has two fingers sticking up making the sign of "PEACE".

This picture brings me back to my childhood days when my dad used to tell us to make the peace sign when he would take our pictures. Then when I had children, their grandpa would continue the tradition of telling the children to make the peace sign with every picture. My dad was very young when World War II occured in his country. He used to say that the one common hand gesture they had to communicate with the Soldiers was the PEACE sign. So this simple sign language has spanned generations in my family and continues to be used by teenagers here in California (albeit slightly slanted to the left =).

I think it's pretty cool that the message of peace is being sent out by Iphone Girl. :)

Below is a picture of Iraqi kids in Fallujah.

The peace sign seems to be universal among us all. Pretty cool!

Sucker Born Every Minute

I can't believe the lack of scepticism in this forum and among the media.

This whole story looks like a dumb P.R. stunt that reporters on a slow news day are more than happy to run with without any verification. Who is the Mark in the U.K.? Who is the Shenzhen model?

I mean the whole thing is just way too contrived.

Isn't it great that she's wearing a cool little pink suit and waving a peace sign and has perfect teeth and complexion. Oh yes, if you haven't read the new wires she has been shaken by the whole ordeal and prefers to remain anoynmous. Yeah, right.

I hate to break it to everyone, but you have been had.

it's more probable to fire her if u were the boss

talking about humor, since communists r also from china folks, do u think that girl is a alien or what?! so it seemed u r the one that critical about anything which u might not even know.

To have supposedly grown young men getting so worked up over a photo of a little girl in a factory is beyond pathetic. Only in Yahoo news and on the internet can such lame ass activity go on. People need to get lives but more importantly get dates so if they get something like this they dont freak out. Good God. This is a 9.5 on the get a life scale. China is still a very messed up country.

And please; get out more so you wont lose your mind whenever you see a cute girl.

Seems like you've got out pretty much enough.
Do you people really have to say something like that all the time?
Give chinese a break won't makes you look stupid.

Jeez

iphone girl

:pHmm.....just a bunch of winers with iphone here. IF YOU DONT LIKE THE PIC THEN DELETE IT?! Right, simple as that. Just be glad you got a glimpse of how those iphone of yours are built.

Yeah, but Microsoft mainly use Macs to create their Xbox 360 games lol!

When I worked for IBM, Intel was using IBM RS/6000's (IBM CPU) to create the first Pentium :) Due to problems with the equipment, IBM moved me from Austin to the Silly Valley in 1991.

iphone is acting as a matchmaker

markm49uk,i just registered to raise a suggestion , why not come to China and find the smiling gal? :p maybe it's GOD's wish to arrange the iphone as your matchmaker ! then years laters, if you two get a baby , you can name it as iphone baby. what a romantic idea! :p Anyone agrees to me?

markm49uk, when you are eligiable for an avatar, I think it should definitely be one of those photos. :D I can't believe how this story has spread!

Mr.

I wonder what is that yellow stripe on the front panel of that table. It can only be seen on two pics and yet not the same. Those pictures have been modified. Wonder why????
