9am or 5am pacific?

if new zealand launches at 5am pacific, why would 2.0 and apps store not be out until 9am pacific? am i missing something?

Aaaaahhh, this is driving me crazy. I have been reloading mac.com and me.com for the last 5 hours or so... only to realize that they pushed back the release time, and even worse---- that the time is in PST. I am living in Florida. That does not help things.

Anyways, looks like Apple has succeeded in yet another marketing extravaganza. The iPhone 3g is probably not going to live up to the hype, but they did pretty well on getting the hype up there.

I am probably not going to be trading out my gen1 iPhone for the 3g anytime soon. From what I have been seeing, the battery life is not as good as the Edge version. This is a big deal breaker for me. What's the point of having 3g and GPS if the phone is dead within a few hours of talk time? Then again, we'll see. I was a late adopter of the original iphone (used my Crackberry 8800 until it went out), but I have been happy so far.

To be honest, I may go ahead and wait until I hear some more substantial rumors about the iPhone Nano/Mini/X.. whatever they will be calling it. A smaller form-factor phone with all of the same features (and potentially more)... This will by more up my alley.

It would have to- there is no way to access the App Store without the new firmware.

I was thinking maybe because the 3g is going on sale in New Zealand they are obviously going to need to launch the app store for those customers but maybe not realease the firmware update in the US, because isnt it true that the iphone 1st gen wasn't officially ever launched there thus leaving no reason to release the new firmware yet?

I wish I didn't loose my iphone last week when I was coming out of a bar. Since then I been with out a cell phone because I been waiting for the 3g release. I almost feel like taking the hour train ride to the 24 hour in the city right now and picking up an first generation iphone so i can be part of the madness tonight, but then I won't be upgrade eligible on friday
