iPhone 3G Launching at 8AM!!!!

I'd love the early release, sounds good to me. My guess is that with the in-store activation and the extra time that it'll take, they decided that the 6PM launch isn't going to cut it. (3-3:30 hrs at most locations might not be enough time to get to everyone, especially when you have people like me that are going to have to do the porting/initial signup/etc crap).
Thats a fantastic point... sometimes the AT&T stores can take a while with long line to activate phones... that makes perfect sense.
Im going to sign you up for some 8AM anger management classes...assuming they open up that early.
Confirmed here in Sacramento as well. However....
Anyone want to brave a call to a local Apple Store and see if they're opening that early as well? If your store is in a mall, the mall will be open (morning walkers, etc.), but nothing yet on this from an Apple Store.

Just called my buddy who is a manager at an ATT store here in NYC and he said he received an email confirming an 8am release time, i guess when you think about it 6pm doesnt make sense because of the amount of time its going to take for in store activation. people would be in there all night.
Who knows, it could be true however, you guys see a screenshot of an email with no identifying properties whatsoever and you believe it? Then, you call the AT&T stores and "confirm" it with a representative there?
Thats whats unbelievable. You can go back through countless threads of pictures and supposed AT&T official announcements that turned out to be bogus. When AT&T puts out an official public announcement of the time, then believe it. It may be 8:00am, but that email screenshot doesn't prove anything.
It has been suggested that the U.K. launch will be at 7 a.m. so it may be true that we are all looking at the beginning rather than the end of the day:

Um..ok. First of all, I wasn't trying to slam you personally, I was just making a silly, sarcastic comment because (unfortunately) there have been SO MANY "i heard/my friend said" threads that I decided to be silly and sarcastic. Second of all, I started composing that before you posted your email. Third, it wasn't intended to be a personal potshot or to piss you off, and I sincerely apologize if that was the case. Peace?
This is macrumors not macproof. If all you are willing to believe is an official announcement, you should be reloading apple.com and not macrumors. It sounds plausible to me, and if he's wrong I won't die.

I never called you a liar. I did say the email is bogus because there are no identifying marks on it at all. I can make the same wording up in 30 seconds. You can't expect people to take this as an official announcement when it isn't public knowledge yet. Even if it is true.
Hey, I hope it is true....it will make my morning commute much better since every douche will be standing in line for a phone.
