iPhone 3G Launching at 8AM!!!!

Our local Apple retail store says they have NO information yet about launch time on July 11.
For the original iPhone launch, AT&T and Apple stores found out essentially the same time as the public press release. So while I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't 6PM, and was in fact at store open and/or 8AM local time, the bottom line is, as others have said, nothing is official until there is a press release.
Until Apple or AT&T release the info to the public, nothing is 100%.

If you have "verified" the source, that means you work for at least some part of AT&T, since that's the only way you'd have access to an AT&T directory or some mechanism of "verifying" the source, right?
If so, what part of AT&T do you work for, if not the retail side? If you work for AT&T's retail or wireless operations, presumably you'd be able to confirm this yourself?
Just wondering how you can say the "source is verified"...
Mark my words. We will have confirmation within 24 hours...
The iPhone3G will go on sale at 8AM EST Friday July 11.
This is based on two reasons:
1--In store activation taking too much time (main logical reason)
2--Waiting in line all day in plazas, malls and centers during BUSINESSS hours created a less than ideal environment for all of the other businesses trying to operate.
a--People using the bathrooms
b--parking
c--people afraid to even go to the stores near the lines
d--need for security all day
e--need to care for people in the potential heat and sun all day. If the lines are at night, no need to babysit while the store, mall, center is closed. Reduced liability. When the stores are open and people are in line the potential for heat related illness increases and so does the managment's liability.

Makes perfect sense. If they wait until 6 PM to launch, they're not going to get through many activations. Last year was just handing people boxes and moving on to the next customer. This year is a tad different with in-store activation and what-not.
Yes, yes, it all makes sense that they wouldn't launch at 6PM; but you could argue that doing the initial launch at 6PM wouldn't have made sense either, for nearly all of the same reasons.

This is really starting to be a never ending cycle. Is it even worth posting anything on this site ? Seems like the OP is being nailed for simply wanting to share the info.
I will NOT disclose my info or the method in which I verified the source. I'm keeping my word to the OP.
Great. So unless it's somehow verified or known that you work for AT&T or have access to a mechanism for verifying the employment status of AT&T employees, your own "verification" is worthless.
Note that I am NOT saying ANY of this is false, but how is saying "PM me the name and I'll verify it" and then saying "the source is verified" proof of anything when there is no reason (for anyone else) to believe it?
Just because you yourself have reason to believe it (given that only you know the mechanism you used for verification) doesn't mean anyone else does.
I would also point out that proving somehow that you work for some component of AT&T and/or providing more details about how you could "verify" this information in no way breaches the trust with the OP. That doesn't reveal the person's identity...but whatever. We've already got dozens of blogs saying it's "confirmed" that the iPhone 3G is launching at 8AM on July 11, all feeding off each others' "confirmation" in the same way it was "confirmed" that iPhone 3G was launching at 6PM again...
Dude, Loony, you have some built up resentment or something. You are so dang harsh with him when I for one thank him for bringing it to our attention, even if it might not be true.
He never purported with certainty that it is fact; he actually started this thread with "Apparently the iPhone is Launching at 8AM on July 11th!!!"
Even if it isn't true, I think you need a vocabulary lesson. You did say that this is a lie by saying that the email was bogus:
bogus - Counterfeit or fake; not genuine
You do not know that it is in fact fake just like he doesn't know that it is real; the difference is you actually strongly stated that the email was absolutely bogus when he never actually purported that the email is undeniably true (but rather "apparently" true).
Leave people up to their own conclusions; let them dream that it will be 8AM even if you think otherwise. Most people will say to themselves, "Maybe this is fake," without you pointing it out, oh wise one.
Since you are new here I will give you time to read through the multitude of threads with apparent "confirmed" information that turned out to be bogus. Like another poster stated, we have a "show us proof" attitude. Many people make claims, few are true.
I've already done some work in this thread so this is just a public reminder that any personal attacks or insults will result in a swift application of the forum rules.
The mall here in Sac where the Apple store is located opens at 10.
But if I remember correctly, at this other mall, old people used to go in like at 7/8 and walk around the mall. So it could be that the mall stores do not open until 10, but the mall is actually open.

Regardless of the times places ACTUALLY open... as it was mentioned earlier.... stores and malls do make exceptions for big launches of video games and other things...
This is not proof of anything but that someone can type words on a screen.
Like I said before, I hope it is true, it just cant be verified with the information provided.
As as side note, someone make a count, I think I have broken some sort of record for being quoted in a thread.
Brea Mall (a pretty popular one) opens pretty early for the walkers. Thats the closest Apple store to me. However, the ATT store opens at 9AM. Such a conflict. Apple does things very differently, so we shall see.
